If one observes cessation and is not attached to feelings, then the cessation of feelings will not delight in perception, and the cessation of perception will not desire the arising of actions. There will be no desire for the arising of consciousness that has no abiding, no destruction, and no change. This nature of having no abiding, no destruction, and no change is the bhikkhu's knowledge of the suchness of the aggregates. It does not abide in the realm of Mara and is not harmed by desire, hatred, and ignorance. It is not a view of permanence, pleasure, purity, or self. In samsara, one will not be bound by the ugly nets of sound, touch, form, and smell, and one will not lose mindfulness, because one can discern and abide in mindfulness, able to exhaust defilements and turn towards nirvana. Here are verses: A bhikkhu who is weak in diligence, lazy, and attached to views, who does not always rejoice in anything, such a person is a bhikkhu. Not enjoying bedding and cushions, (such a person) is called a bhikkhu, as the Buddha said. If one is very pleased with laziness, then one is not fit for virtue. The root of all afflictions is laziness, which exists in whom. Whoever has laziness, that person has no Dharma. Merely being content with robes, that person is called a bhikkhu. Whose wisdom is inexpressible, who has no meditation and no exhaustion of defilements. Merely being content with appearances, such a person is not a bhikkhu. Striving for temples and sanghas, not delighting in the practice of Dharma, with a mind attached to women and alcohol, such a person is not a bhikkhu. Whoever cuts the bonds of Mara and cuts off sinful deeds, does not practice the practice of the Sangha, that person is the bhikkhu spoken of by the Buddha. Poisonous snakes and the fruits of the tala tree, it is tolerable to eat them when ripe, but if the discipline is broken, it is not permissible to enjoy the food and drink of the Sangha. Whoever has accumulated defilements, that person is not fit to receive offerings, that person is not worthy of receiving offerings, that person is destined for hell. Like a poisonous snake dwelling in a hole, whoever has destroyed and abandoned defilements, that bhikkhu is fit to receive offerings.
