It contemplates the characteristics of perception. The gods born from the deeds of the Four Great Kings, the Gods of No Strife, and the Gods Who Wield Power Over Others' Emanations, will die and be born among the gods. Those who die as humans and are born among humans contemplate the characteristics of perception, that the cycle of those places without leisure is round. Those who are completely seized by red karma are animals, and they also eat each other and contemplate the characteristics of perception that delights in red. Those who are completely seized by white karma are gods and humans, and they hold the birth as gods and humans in sequence from the precious path of pure and virtuous deeds. When a god dies, they say to him, "Gods, please go to the happy realm of humans." Likewise, when a person dies, relatives, friends, and wives fill their eyes with tears and weep, saying, "Please abandon us and happily go to the happy realm of humans." He thinks to himself, even if he obtains a human body, if he does not strive for virtue, generosity, discipline, and wisdom, then he will suffer and wander everywhere in the solitary places of hell beings, pretas, and animals. Each individual is deceived and exhausted by the path of karma. Monks, seeing the truth of feeling, seeing the truth of contemplating the aggregate of perception in accordance with the Dharma is like this, seeking the truth as it is. Dependent on the eye and form, eye consciousness arises. Contact is spoken of from the convergence of the three, perception distinguishes. Seeing form, good and not good, near and kalpa, long and short, square and round, white and triangular, the shape of the form is correctly distinguished by perception and used as a characteristic to observe the basis. The basis of aggregates, realms, and sources is made and distinguished as perception. The ripening of virtuous and non-virtuous deeds is greatly distinguished and made manifest. Contemplating what has a cause, knowing what does not have a cause, one abandons it separately. Beneficial and non-beneficial

Recognition arises in relation to past, distinct characteristics. Just as one recognizes through the recognition of 'he did my bad deed,' it is the same as before. If there is no recognition, there is also no memory, for memory is related to recognition as its object and condition. For example, just as the cause, basis, and source of light is fire, so too, memory is the cause of recognition, the manifestation of recognition, the master of recognition. The monk enters the fifth realm, called 'touch of recognition.' He recognizes the correct feeling as happiness, but does not rejoice in it. He understands that the suffering from the deeds done by beings in hell is also without fear, just the same, like the finest gold. The mindful monk contemplates through other aspects of recognition. He is liberated from recognition and contemplates: What is the condition of my recognition? What is the cause? What is the basis? He thinks, this recognition arises dependently. When conditions come together, this arises; when they cease, it ceases. For example, relying on the moon and also relying on crystal, just as water and vapor arise from crystal, so too, recognition arises relying on cause and condition. This recognition does not arise without a cause, is not made by the doer and the feeler, and does not arise randomly, but arises in this way. The monk seeks the truth of the aggregate of recognition. He sees the truth of recognition and seeks the truth of its arising and ceasing in extremely subtle stages. Like the flow of a river, entering into recognition, by the power of cause and condition, goodness arises; by the power of cause and condition, it becomes unwholesome and arises. His mind is like a monkey, unstable, so the unpredicted change gives rise to the unpredicted. He does not regard the recognition of pleasure as pleasure, but recognizes unpolluted pleasure as pleasure, and does not recognize pleasure as pleasure, but recognizes those pleasures as small. How then do the aggregates of pleasure, the realms, and the aggregates of sense bases arise?
