In the guarding of places, whoever eats food according to reason, that is a Bhikshu. Whoever does not engage in activities, is without thought for all activities, without joy and without reverence, that is a Bhikshu.

Thus I have heard. Such is a Bhikshu. He delights in giving and compassion. He completely abandons concealment and faults. He certainly burns all sinful things. Such is a Bhikshu. That Bhikshu contemplates the Dharma in the inner Dharma, and recollects all feelings as they are. With extremely subtle wisdom, he sees that the object of the feeling arising from the union of the eye has no following flow. He sees that the two objects cease and perish together. When the object of the feeling arising from the union of the eye has passed, then a pleasant or unpleasant feeling arises with the object of 'I'. He thinks that his mind is not with it, and he firmly grasps the object of his mind. When the feeling of the ear with sound as its object ceases, then the feeling of the nose with smell as its object arises. He also contemplates and extremely contemplates the feeling of the nose. My nose feeling is with smell, giving rise to good or bad or predicted or unpredicted. If he sees that his nose feeling has changed his mind, he also cultivates that object, strives diligently in practice, makes it capable, and cultivates his mind with the undefiled good Dharma. If it does not move, then it takes the object of the tongue, good or bad or predicted or unpredicted, as its object. Having manifested that object, he then observes the feeling of pleasure and pain and neither pleasure nor pain, and thinks, 'Has my mind changed?' If he sees that the feeling with taste as its object has arisen and the mind has changed, he also binds his mind to the pillar of the object with the rope of faith, and thinks, 'How can this mind not be taken away by the feeling of the tongue and desire?' Thus he practices and strives diligently. The Holy Dharma of Mindfulness, Volume Four. Furthermore, that Bhikshu binds the feeling of touch with the touch of the body to the pillar of the object, and contemplates good and bad and unpredicted. If he sees that the feeling of touch has changed his mind, also as the object
