Also depends on. Also depends on appearance. Also depends on the sky. Also depends on attention. Thus, the feeling of the eye arises, whether it is pleasant, painful, or neither painful nor pleasant. For example, if a vase comes from good causes and conditions, then the vase will become good. If it is bad, then the vase will not become good. Similarly, if the causes and conditions of the object are good, then the feelings of the eye and so on will become good, and the virtuous order in accordance with the Dharma will gradually lead to Nirvana. If the causes and conditions are not good, then the feelings of the eye and so on will become bad, and with attachment, hatred, and ignorance as the object, sentient beings in samsara will go to hell, the realm of hungry ghosts, and the animal realm. The monk who is skilled in thinking about all things related to karma and its results, when seeking feelings, sees that feelings exist in many states. It is not created by an agent, nor does it arise without cause, nor is it created by chance. It is not permanently existing, not constant, not stable, not eternal, but is of the nature of complete change. Having seen that aggregate of feelings, he completely eliminates the defilements of craving, joy, and attachment that arise from the desire to arise again. The monk who follows and sees that all of samsara is impermanent cultivates, habituates, and increases the path in all ways. When meditating in this way, he abandons all attachments and discards latent tendencies. What are all the attachments? They are attachment to craving, attachment to anger, attachment to pride, attachment to ignorance, attachment to views, attachment to holding as supreme, attachment to doubt, attachment to jealousy, and attachment to stinginess. He abandons those attachments. What are the latent tendencies? For example, the latent tendency of desire for desire, the latent tendency of desire for craving, the latent tendency of views, the latent tendency of anger, the latent tendency of ignorance, the latent tendency of pride, and the latent tendency of doubt.
