From that place to the mind, thinking they are different. The monk, knowing the true nature of the form aggregate, sees the eye as an accumulation, empty, without essence, and unreal. In the ten directions of the path, knowing that truth, abandoning wrong views, and leading with right views, he abandons the eye's appearance, which has become the filth of ignorance. Seeing that truth, knowing it is made of a lump of flesh, a place of little pus and many tears, he utterly abandons attachment to it. Thinking it is impermanent, he views it as impermanent. Thinking it is the appearance of a lump of flesh and holes in the bones, he becomes free from attachment. Thinking it is connected by tendons, he contemplates that this eye aggregate is mutually dependent. He knows that this has no essence and is without self. In short, knowing and seeing that this eye is suffering, he is free from attachment to the eye aggregate. Having understood the eye aggregate as it is, he also examines forms in detail. Whether a form is beautiful, ugly, or unstated, this is merely a universal thought. What essence is there in this? What purity is there? What permanence is there? What impermanence is there? When looking in this way, one thinks and examines in detail. When examining, one knows individually and correctly that since this form has no inherent happiness, one sees form, knows, and obtains thought. This form has no essence because beautiful and ugly forms are merely universal assumptions. There is no nature of beautiful and ugly in this because only this world thinks of them as beautiful and ugly. This form is not inherently permanent, stable, lasting, happy, essential, or possessed of self because it is obscured by desire, hatred, and ignorance that one thinks of form as beautiful or ugly. Thinking in this way, one correctly examines that form aggregate. Seeing the eye and form, one does not become attached, does not become deluded, and does not think there is essence. Having clearly examined the eye and form aggregates, one does not become attached to the eye's consciousness and becomes free from attachment. The eye's consciousness is withou

is. Eye consciousness is not me, likewise, contact, feeling, perception, and mind are not me. Mind consciousness is not me, until it is known. Then, monks, knowing the knowledge of the maturation of karmic results, observe the world of pretas. He sees with the wisdom born of hearing how the preta called the child-eating preta exists in the realm of pretas. He wondered, by what cause will he be born there? He observed with the wisdom born of hearing that if someone worships gods or offers to yakshas for the sake of the sick, deceives others with fierce evil deeds, plunders wealth or slaughters sheep, that person, after death, falls into evil destinies, falls into the hell of beings, and is born in the hell of rebirth. After being liberated from there, he will also be born among the child-eating pretas. If another killer is born in the human realm by the karma that enables people to experience each other truly, then, just as he has done much killing, the preta will also kill him. Either kill him in the womb, or kill him in the house where he was born, or kill him when he is crawling, or kill him when he has a suckling child, or kill him when he is running completely. Thus, the preta gradually kills that child. When that evil deed causes the preta to find an opportunity, and after finding an opportunity, he devours that child. Here is a verse: Some are in the womb, and so are others in the house of birth, likewise crawling and, when running completely, will die. Thus, the body tormented by thirst and hunger will experience the evil deeds it has done. Thus, when living on the lives of children, evil deeds are done upon evil deeds, and thus the child-eating preta, upon evil deeds, again commits extremely evil deeds, and thus continuously, will experience the world of pretas. Thus, as long as that sinful deed has been done, accumulated, destroyed, abandoned, and not exhausted, he will be born in the world of pretas. If he is born as a human being equal to all people, then with the same cause as that karma, his descendants
