Therefore, through the wisdom arising from hearing, he sees how the hungry ghost called 'Opportunity-seeking Hungry Ghost' in the world of hungry ghosts, by its own nature, seeks opportunities. He wonders: What causes one to be born there? So he investigates with the wisdom arising from hearing. Like this, oppressed by jealousy and stinginess, employing deceitful and evil means towards others' wealth, deceiving and being cunning, enticing others in villages, towns, and markets, thereby seeking opportunities, destroying others, not giving charity, not doing merit, not respecting the wise, always being oppressed by stinginess, harboring thoughts of harming others, seeing others' perfections and conceiving evil thoughts, being discordant with friends, relatives, and family, and harboring resentment towards the land, such actions that everyone sees, after death, they fall into evil destinies and are born among the opportunity-seeking hungry ghosts. Their bodies and hair are always burning intensely, their bodies are tormented by hunger and thirst, their bodies are like fig trees, uttering cries, lamenting, and running around, thinking: Where is there water? Where is there a little bit of food for me to eat? Sometimes, if they encounter a foolish person who does not circumambulate stupas, then the deity following behind him will leave him. At that time, the deity following behind that person will depart, and the opportunity-seeking hungry ghost will find an opportunity, inflict harm, seize him, and thereby sustain its life. Similarly, if other people encounter women and do not wash away the sin of impurity, or do not wash away the sin of uncleanness from the leftovers of food and drink, the deity will also be harmed, and the hungry ghost will thereby obtain sustenance for life, he is his protector, he is his savior, as long as that sinful action has not been destroyed, abandoned, and exhausted, he will survive. Afterwards, he will be liberated from that world of hungry ghosts, and even if liberated, he will wander around in samsara due to causes that are in accordance with that karma. If he is born as a human being with a shared destiny with humans, then he will always be afflicted by kings and water.
