Contemplate the five great fears of all sentient beings: gods suffer the pain of death due to carelessness, humans suffer the pain of desire, hell beings suffer the pain of harm, hungry ghosts suffer the pain of hunger and thirst, and animals suffer the pain of devouring each other. Thus, these five forms are of many kinds, and the divisions of suffering are contemplated immeasurably. At that time, like this, one must first be liberated from all samsara, and it appears, giving rise to a supreme mind for the path of definitely distinguishing the true Dharma. From that single generation of mind, the stream of virtuous Dharma itself arises. Whoever is truly in accordance with that generation of mind, the Yaksha who travels in the sky is extremely pleased, universally joyful, and extremely joyful. Having become content, he thinks in his mind: This noble son is named so-and-so, and his lineage is so-and-so. From beginningless time, he has desired to abandon desire, hatred, and ignorance, and he does not want to enter into the objects of the realm of demons. He is not universally pleased with the craving born from the abundance of desire that pleases all afflicted realms. Furthermore, that noble son who is free from wrong views constantly shows, cultivates, and increases the mind of supreme renunciation. He reveres virtuous friends, delights in listening to the true Dharma, turns away from worldly things, has a clear mind, and prostrates. The limits of his actions of body and speech are peaceful and extremely clear. Thus, because his body, speech, and mind are peaceful, the Yaksha who travels in the sky, knowing that he abides in equanimity during the day, becomes universally joyful, thinking: This noble son has a very pure mind towards virtuous friends, and his mind is not attached to the home, which is like a prison. He has no attachment to the thoughts of desire, hatred, and ignorance that have entered the realm of demons from beginningless time, and together with the desire gods. He wants to fight with the armies of demons and wants to abandon afflictions. The Yaksha who travels in the sky, knowing this, becomes universally joyful.

It shall be so. Furthermore, that son of good family, focusing on the suffering of samsara in such a way, generates an extremely intense mind of renunciation. He will abandon killing, taking what is not given, sexual misconduct, alcohol, mixed alcohol, and false speech, thereby taking vows. When he fully practices the vows of a layperson, the yakshas who travel in the sky will rejoice, saying: A certain son of good family, named so-and-so, with the lineage of so-and-so, in such-and-such a large city, such-and-such a small town, and such-and-such a place, has shaved his hair and beard, donned the robes of a renunciate, and with genuine faith has gone forth from home into homelessness, thereby weakening the forces of Mara and elevating the side of the sacred Dharma. He is cutting the bonds of Mara and liberating himself from the great afflictions of attachment, hatred, and ignorance, they will proclaim openly. Wrong view is the basis of all the latent tendencies of affliction, while right view is the basis of ultimate nirvana. The practitioner of yoga sees that Dharma accordingly. At that time, he will first openly praise right view, not ridiculing, not slandering, not finding fault, but showing it to others and establishing it. He will condemn wrong view, not praising it, but condemning it. Through right view, he will accurately show and establish the actions, Dharma, and ripening that arise from wrong view. The root of bonds is wrong view, which is the bond of ordinary people and the end of beings dwelling in the realms of ghosts, hell beings, animals, and pretas. If the son of good family abandons it, he will obtain many virtues. Furthermore, that son of good family will recognize that the household life is suffering, fearful, full of bonds, and without freedom. Therefore, he will leave home, desiring to go forth and wanting to wage war with Mara. Such a noble person will be known by the earth deities and the gods who travel in the sky.

Then everyone rejoiced. The Four Great Kings, with a mind of rejoicing, declared that a son of such and such lineage, in such and such a great city, such and such a town, and such and such a place, had shaved his hair and beard, donned the kasaya robe, and with true faith, had gone forth from home into homelessness. Because he had gone forth from home, he caused the forces of Mara to diminish and the forces of the true Dharma to increase. Then the Four Great Kings, having heard this from the earth-dwelling gods, the sky-faring gods, and the yakshas, were delighted, and the sky-faring yakshas were exceedingly joyful. Thus, the people of Jambudvipa, inspired by the virtuous words of the true Dharma, how did that son of good family properly attend to the Khenpo (preceptor) of the noble Shramana? After attending to him, he also shaved his hair and beard, donned the kasaya robe, and took the vows of individual liberation. After taking the vows, the earth-dwelling gods and the sky-faring yakshas were even more delighted, and said to the Four Great Kings, "In Jambudvipa, a son of such and such lineage, in such and such a village, in such and such a place, has abandoned wrong views and taken up the practice of right views, has embraced the true Dharma, has abandoned all attachment to children and wives, regarding it as meaningless and fearful like poison, has shaved his hair and beard, donned the kasaya robe, and taken the vows of individual liberation, desiring to wage war with Mara, desiring to abandon the indulgence born of joyful desire." Then. At that time, the Four Great Kings, rejoicing, declared to the gods of the retinue of the Four Great Kings, "In Jambudvipa, in such and such a village, in such and such a place, from such and such a lineage, a certain son of good family has abandoned wrong views, and with right views has shaved his hair and beard, donned the kasaya robe, and with faith has gone forth from home into homelessness, dwelling in the presence of such and such a bhikshu." When the gods heard this, the forces of Mara diminished, and the forces of the true Dharma increased.
