Caused harm to... Suffering from thirst, and cutting off the water source there, making the place uninhabitable, that (being) will fall into the evil path after leaving the body, and will be reborn as a hell being called "Bird Yama Uttering Sound." After being born there, all the sufferings of hell beings, such as the resurrected hell, will appear. In particular, there is a monastery of seven hundred yojanas, as well as iron tree forests, and extremely burning and unbearable cliffs, that hell being will perversely see water, trees, forests, and abundant lotuses. Moreover, due to the burning of incomparable and extremely unbearable hunger and thirst, crying out, completely wailing, thinking "I will drink that water," and running towards that lotus, but it is filled with boiling salt water. Then, a hundred Yama soldiers holding weapons will appear, and they will seize that (being). After seizing it, they will chop and cut with weapons. That (being) is tormented by two kinds of suffering, namely the suffering of weapons and the suffering of hunger and thirst. In this way, that (being) suffers the suffering of weapons and wilderness for a long time. If that (being) is liberated from that (suffering), it will also flee everywhere due to hunger and thirst, and then see some cool water, and go there. When it goes there, those waters are also seized by a bird called "Bird Yama Uttering Sound," which is as big as an elephant and has a sharp beak. After seizing it, it is thrown into the air. When thrown into the air, due to confusion and loss of memory, it returns again and falls like a stone on the extremely burning, hard, and unbearable ground. There, that (being) shatters into a hundred pieces. Then, it gathers again and revives, and is seized by the bird, suffering as before. It is also afflicted by all diseases, and in this way, like before, it experiences various sufferings for hundreds of millions of years. If that (being) is liberated from that (suffering), it will be seized again by the Yama soldiers. After being seized, it is put into a river-like boiling red copper liquid. After being put in, it is completely melted like a ball of butter. Then, it appears again

Alas! The consequences of evil deeds are suffered in this way for a long time, for so many years that they cannot be counted. If he is fortunate enough to escape from this, he is tormented by hunger and thirst. In an unsuitable place, while enduring the suffering caused by his own karma, he flees wherever he can. On the road, sharp and pointed stakes appear, piercing the soles of his feet and other parts, even piercing up to his knees. His feet are pierced, his body burns intensely, he is overwhelmed with suffering, he utters pitiful cries of compassion, he completely emits miserable groans, weeping, and falls and sinks into his own blood. Then, he struggles up from the pain of having all the limbs of his body burned, and walks along in such a dazed state. At this time, dogs with burning teeth rush over and seize him, devouring all his limbs, skin, flesh, fat, and even bones. In this way, in this unsuitable place, as long as the evil deeds he has done and accumulated have not been fully endured and eliminated, he will suffer his own harm for a long time. Afterwards, in accordance with this karma, he will be reborn among the filthy animals for five hundred lifetimes. Wherever he is born, he will be killed by hail, snakes, or wind. Even if he is fortunate enough to escape from this, if he is reborn as a human with the same fate as humans, he will be born into the caste of hunters and will be despised by everyone. Then, that monk, knowing the ripening of the fruits of karma, observes the state of beings in the great hell of incessant suffering. Through the wisdom arising from hearing, he sees a hell called Star Garland. He wonders, what karma causes beings to be reborn here? So he observes through the wisdom arising from hearing, and discovers that those who desire to exhaust all afflictions, the first monks who rise from meditation, are extremely hungry, but their food is stolen by others, and after stealing it, they feel satisfied, their hearts are very happy, and they repeatedly savor the taste of the food. For this evil deed, others also praise them. He creates and accumulates various hateful deeds that are fully in accordance with karma, the proximate cause of karma, and the consequences of karma.
