The teeth are as sharp as poison, gnawed by all, and tigers also devour from behind. The feet are burned by fire, and the Yama's messengers throw them far away. Thus, for those who have obtained the power of great compassion, the Yama's messengers teach as follows, saying in verses: For the lowest of human beings, who have a harmful mind like fire, from burning they obtain burning. What is the point of lamenting in vain? The cause of beings being born in hell is unbearable harmful thoughts. By what rope are they bound, and people are completely led away? People who are deluded by harmful thoughts, constantly put their minds into it, and it is very difficult to be peaceful, like a snake dwelling in a hole. Whoever has unbearable harmful thoughts, and a very violent nature, like darkness to the sun, they have no happiness. Having harmful thoughts in the heart cannot be protected by anyone, not by friends or relatives, nor by gatherings of Dharma and meaning. This harmful thought is said to be like a gathering of darkness. Those who generate harmful thoughts are called harmful thoughts, and are widely proclaimed as such. How can there be no harmful thoughts? Not having harmful thoughts is most auspicious. Those who have harmful thoughts, in the next life, they will go to unbearable death. Those who are led by harmful thoughts will come to fierce hell. Only after the karma is exhausted will they be liberated, and they will no longer wander in hell. Having taught and then taught accordingly, the Yama's messengers, lions, and tigers, who have many harmful thoughts, jointly beat and devour them. Just as fruit comes from a seed, in accordance with their harmful thoughts, the ripening of karma arises. Thus, the hell beings are tormented and devoured by its fruit. If they are freed from it, they seek refuge, seek protection, and flee wherever they can. Driven by great sins, the path of the five irreversible acts of wrong view is this. Having been born in the uninterrupted hell, and there definitely experiencing other uninterrupted sins, they are born there, and as soon as they are born, they will experience their respective karmas. Those hell beings, the wandering non-Buddhists and the perfected ones.

Moreover, this great sentient being of hell will also go to the place where Devadatta and Kokālika are tormented, where they will surely experience unbearable suffering, even more intense than intense heat. They will experience those. The suffering there is not easily comparable by all sentient beings; they will experience the suffering of Avīci Hell. The evildoer falls into darkness, and all beings cry out, "Hair standing on end!" He is tormented in that great Avīci Hell. Burning. Splitting. Weapons falling like rain will shatter them. Then they will be reborn again, placed again. Splitting. Burning. Great arrows, vajras, hail, and stone rain fall like rain, killing them. Thus, when those who commit the five inexpiable sins are burned, eleven great pyres of fire will appear, and those fires will bring great suffering. There, ten flames burning in the ten directions and eleven great pyres of fire appear, and they open their mouths due to hunger and thirst. Flames spread above, below, and on the sides of their bodies, so that every tiny part of their bodies cannot be hidden; thus they are burned. That fire cannot even hide the tips of their hairs; thus they torment each other intensely, and this is Avīci. There is not even the slightest interval of ease; this is Avīci. All senses are tormented in all realms and are contrary to the mind; this is Avīci. After dying from that world, they will not be reborn anywhere other than the great Avīci Hell, because there is no end to the torment and no interruption in the number of harms; therefore, it is Avīci. Beneath all sentient beings belonging to the desire realm are those Avīci Hells; the others are Avīci because they are Avīci. The head of that great sentient being of hell, just as it is completely afflicted by harm descending from above, so too there is no interval on his head; therefore, it is Avīci. The ground is bright red copper, intensely boiled, mixed and mingled with blood, flesh, and bones without interruption; similarly, the skin, flesh, fat, bones, and everything belonging to the marrow of Avīci Hell are intensely burned, and thus completely burned.
