I chop with sharpened weapons and put it in my mouth again to swallow it. Afflicted by hunger and thirst, haggard, I eat my own blood, drool, and eat my own tongue. The chopped tongue is reborn due to karma. Then, those exhausted by suffering roll on the ground and utter cries. Thus, the eyeballs of those exhausted by suffering will fall out. Exhausted by suffering, wretched and helpless, one alone experiences what one has done. The people of the Lord of Death teach in this way, saying in verses: What is seen is called harsh speech, Your words are as sharp as arrows. Shot from a tongue like a bow, Its fruit has come here. Where does harsh speech arise from? It arises from a tongue like poison. Like flesh-eaters to the world, Completely abandon them. How does it turn into aversion? It is speaking harsh words in a terrible way. For the arising of fire, weapons, and poison, Unwholesome words are not pleasing either. Arising from a tongue like a churning stick, Nourished by a heart like a tree. Harsh words in the world burn like fire, It burns like dry wood. Whoever delights in speaking sweetly, The whole world bows down to them. Like a mother to the whole world, He is as pleasing as a father. Speaking sweetly at first is good, It is the source of ease and comfort. Eliminating endless sins, It purifies all unpleasant places. Sweet words are the ladder to heaven, Sweet words are a treasure of virtue. Sweet words are the friends of the world, Sweet words accomplish all good. Because you spoke those harsh words, Sentient beings come to a fierce hell. It also harms those tongues, What will you say today? After teaching in this way, those who have spoken falsely are universally practiced and cultivated, increased greatly, rejoiced in without confessing, and dwell together for hundreds of thousands of years. If one escapes from that again, one flees wherever one happens to be, and then one is seized by the people of the Lord of Death in front, and one sees that one is tormented and feels unbearable and intense suffering. Then again, monks.

Therefore, one should constantly rely on and cultivate idle talk, contemplating the ripening of the fruits of sins and non-virtuous actions that have been committed extensively. If one examines with the wisdom arising from hearing, these hell beings, experiencing the fruits of their own actions, are exhausted by suffering and extremely uncomfortable. Even if they escape from the hands of the Yama's minions, they flee in all directions. Then, other Yama's minions seize them and say, 'Hey, friends, what harms you?' They say, 'We suffer from hunger and thirst.' Having said that, they speak in verses: 'Thousands of extremely wretched beings, from their own bodies arise fire-drills. The fire arising from hunger and thirst, unbearably burns me. Cold is especially intense like fire, it is like Mount Sumeru and a mustard seed. Burning hell beings, is just such suffering of hunger. The fire arising from hell beings, also harms others. The fire arising from hunger and thirst, even the gods do not have. Whatever unbearable harm there is, happens to me in hell. Like the harm caused by the fire of hunger, those harms are not like that.' Having heard those words, the messengers of Yama take extremely burning dry firewood, open their mouths, and carrying vessels filled with extremely molten copper that is extremely burning, pour it in. Due to the result of speaking idle talk, just as snowflakes melt in fire, their tongues are burned in that way. When they are burned by two different burnings, they utter cries, wails, screams, and their eyes become extremely distorted. That bright red, blazing copper burns their tongues. After the tongue is burned, the throat is burned. After the throat is burned, the heart is burned. After the heart is burned, the intestines are burned. After those are also burned, the large intestine is burned. After the large intestine is also burned, it flows downwards. When they are burned in that way, the Yama's minions teach them in verses like this: 'Words without connection between beginning and end, are meaningless and do not reach the goal. Whatever irrelevant words you have spoken, the result is like this. Those who always speak untruth, whose words are not virtuous, that tongue is not seen by the wise, it is just a lump of flesh.'
