It is close to being certain. Noble people are truth-speakers, they are worshipped by the whole world. Completely avoid speaking falsehoods. But it turns into the excellence of truth. One who speaks harmless truth, is loving and gentle to all beings. Truth is the ladder to heaven, and the great source of all dharmas. Whoever goes to the world of Yama and likewise to hell, the cause of that is speaking falsehoods. Wise people speak thus. Poison and a snare look alike, it is like a weapon, poison and fire. One should not speak falsehoods, because its fruit is much suffering. Thus, karma competes with the fruit, it clearly causes death. Speak peaceful words. Completely avoid being condemned. Thus, that hell being experiences unbearable suffering, and their tongue is pulled out for millions of years. If that hell being is again put into the mouth, they are terrified and frightened, and their face is horrible, they flee everywhere in the river of burning fire. Thus, afflicted by suffering, without a protector, without refuge, without a friend, the people of Yama again appear. The people of Yama, holding hammers and swords in their hands, cause that person to cry out and repeatedly burn in the uninterrupted fire, causing their brains and feet to turn to ashes. Then the monk contemplates the ripening of having fully practiced and meditated on falsehoods. Having examined it with the knowledge arising from hearing, thus, impelled by the fruit of the karma of falsehoods, that hell being enters another extremely unbearable place. They are seized by other fierce people of Yama. Having seized them, the people of Yama said to that hell being: Friends, what harms you? They said: We are harmed by hunger. Then those people of Yama open his mouth and pull out the tongue with their hands. It increases to three hundred yojanas, thus it extends outwards and extensively. The people of Yama take up extremely blazing swords and cut that tongue.

Now begins the doing. Dogs and foxes also eat in other directions, and thus, those who experience the most intense suffering each experience it individually. They, with indistinct words due to the loss of their tongues, utter cries and lamentations. As they utter these cries, the people of Yama instruct them with verses, saying: The Sixteenth Chapter of the Noble Dharma Mindfulness: "Due to thoughts of discord, You have spoken much, Those have become sins, Their fruit has come here. Whoever delights in disharmony, Will always separate from friends, Relatives, branches, and limbs. The holy ones utterly despise slander. Wherever one is born in a perilous existence, One will always be born in a lowly state. Whoever engages in slander, Will be subject to delusion after death. Whoever indulges in slander, Is engaging in sin, Sinful actions will cause one to be, Cooked repeatedly in hell. The mouth of slander is seen as two-faced, It voraciously devours the flesh of others, It destroys unwavering resolve, It exposes secret words. Those who abandon slander, Always abide in accomplishment, They and their friends, relatives, branches, and limbs, Will never be separated. Abandoning slander is peaceful, It is good and free from sin, They always hold, The secrets of the rulers. There is no Dharma that has not been practiced, Nor has slander been abandoned, Experience the fruit of slander, What more is there to say today?" Thus instructed and experiencing the suffering of the tongue, they sink into suffering for hundreds of thousands of years. When they experience the hot and rough suffering, if their tongues become soft again, those people of Yama also disappear. When they are liberated from that, the hell beings, due to the power of the extremely unbearable and intense tree of karma, and the fire raised by the wind of maturation, flee wherever they can. Then, other people of Yama seize those hell beings. Having seized them, they say: Friends, what harms you? Those driven by the fruit of karma say: The suffering of the tongue harms us. Then, they stretch out the tongue and seize it.
