It is so. If, like a turtle entering the hole of a yoke, one is born as a human being with the fortune of humans, that person will be poor and short-lived, with incomplete faculties, separated from children and wife, and will see themselves become slaves. Then, the monk, knowing the ripening of the fruits of karma, contemplates the great wheel of the hot hells. Through the wisdom arising from hearing, he sees how the hell called the Hell of Endless Falling into the Earth exists. There, he contemplates which beings will be born there, and he finds that those who kill, take what is not given, engage in sexual misconduct, drink alcohol, and lie, if they constantly cultivate, practice, and increase these actions, will be born there. In short, physical punishment or verbal punishment, as well as the accumulation and completion of karma, if constantly cultivated, practiced, and increased, will also lead to birth there. When he dies, falling into a bad destination, he will be born in the Hell of Endless Falling into the Earth. There, all the sufferings of hell beings, such as the Reviving Hell, will increase fivefold. Those who have become wrong-viewers, because they have heard evil teachings, if they put small insects, ants, snakes, extremely venomous snakes, deer, and birds into the fire, those fires will become pleasant. Feeling pleased, they will give to limitless worlds, and those things burned by the fire will also make the fierce world unbearable. They proclaim that those who are put into the fire will obtain great merit, and they make them think so. This is the wrong view deceived by false dharma. When he dies, falling into a bad destination, he will be born in the Hell of Endless Falling into the Earth. There, these harms will occur, for example, a mountain of thorns five yojanas in circumference, burning everywhere with the fire of hell beings, the messengers of Yama will lift up and throw those hell beings into it, their feet, waist, hips, back, shoulders, throat, hands, eyes, ears, head, and brains will be burned, and then they will be revived and burned again.

乃至彼之罪业未摧伏、未舍弃、未灭尽之间，无数时、长久、不可计数之年，将焚烧之。其后此有情地狱众生将从彼解脱，解脱后亦因邪见之恶劣，与彼业及因相应，于五百世转生为食不净物之饿鬼，身体全部炽燃，夜晚游行时为众人所见，且为恶业所支配而生。从彼饿鬼道解脱后，亦于畜生道中，全身生出燃烧之火舌虫，日夜为众人所见，且腹内燃火焚烧，为日光所压制而见之。 《圣法念住经》第十二卷。 复次，比丘，知业果成熟者，观察大热地狱之轮，彼见名为大莲花之地狱有情。彼思惟何业所生，以闻所生慧观察之，凡杀生、不与取、邪淫、饮酒、妄语，皆恒常修习、串习、多作，总而言之，身之罪、语之罪之近取及业之究竟具足者，彼等身坏命终，堕恶趣，转生于大莲花地狱。行持此等邪见亦复如是，如云：以秘密祭祀可得不坏世间，彼等身坏命终，堕恶趣，转生于大莲花地狱。彼处将生此等损害，如是，彼地狱众生之形相如莲花，其毛发之间充满金刚般之荆棘，彼地狱众生约五百由旬之身躯，将生于彼荆棘之间。甫一生出，其全身即为荆棘所刺穿，无一未被刺穿之处，如针孔一般。

Until his sinful deeds are destroyed, abandoned, and exhausted, for countless times, long periods, and innumerable years, he will be burned. Afterwards, this sentient being in hell will be liberated from that place. Even after liberation, due to the wickedness of wrong views, and in accordance with that karma and its cause, he will be reborn for five hundred lifetimes as a hungry ghost who eats impure things, his entire body ablaze, wandering at night and seen by all, and born under the control of evil deeds. After being liberated from that realm of hungry ghosts, also in the animal realm, his entire body will produce burning fire-tongued worms, visible to all day and night, and his belly will be burned by fire, suppressed by the rays of the sun, and seen. 《The Holy Sutra on Mindfulness》, Volume Twelve. Furthermore, O Bhikshu, one who knows the ripening of karmic results, observing the wheel of the great hot hells, sees sentient beings in a hell called the Great Lotus. He thinks about what karma causes them to be born there, and observes with the wisdom born of hearing: those who constantly practice, cultivate, and frequently engage in killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, drinking alcohol, and lying; in short, those who possess the proximate cause of bodily and verbal sins, and the completion of karma, upon the destruction of their bodies and the end of their lives, fall into evil destinies and are reborn in the Great Lotus Hell. Practicing such wrong views is also similar, such as saying: "By performing secret sacrifices, one can attain an imperishable world." Upon the destruction of their bodies and the end of their lives, they fall into evil destinies and are reborn in the Great Lotus Hell. In that place, such harms will arise, such as: the form of the sentient beings in that hell is like a lotus, and the spaces between their hairs are filled with vajra-like thorns. The bodies of those hell beings, about five hundred yojanas in size, will be born among those thorns. As soon as they are born, their entire bodies are pierced by the thorns, with no place unpierced, like the eye of a needle.

There is not even the slightest bit of room. All the fire of the hell beings, there is no part that is not burned. Thus, as long as his karmic actions of existence are not destroyed, abandoned, and exhausted, he will be cooked and burned for a long time. Afterwards, those hell beings will be liberated from those hells. Even after liberation, due to the result that matches that karma, they will become pretas who live by eating garbage for two hundred lifetimes. After dying from that, they will be reborn as peacocks who live by eating poison for five hundred lifetimes. If they die from that and are reborn as humans with the same fate as people, like a turtle entering the hole of a yoke, then they will always be poor and always dependent on others. Or they will become dancers who live by performing, or they will live by performing in other forms. As long as they live, people will see them become extremely impoverished. Then, the monk again observed the knowledge of the ripening of karmic results, observing the surroundings of the great hot hell, and through the knowledge he gained from hearing, he saw the hell called the edge of hell.
