Having bowed their heads and prostrated, they supplicated the Bhagavan in unison, saying: "Bhagavan, the non-virtuous deeds that we and others have done and accumulated since countless kalpas are inexhaustible to speak of. Some have committed the ten non-virtuous actions, some have committed the five inexpiable sins, and some have slandered the Dharma of equality, etc., committing sins that are inconceivable and inexhaustible to speak of. Relying on the Tathagatas of the three times and the sutras of the twelve branches of scripture, we beseech you to grant us permission to confess and repent before many Bodhisattvas." Then, the Bhagavan said: "It is difficult to generate a fearful mind, and it is even more difficult to generate a virtuous mind, but it is excellent that you have generated it. It is good that you wish to see the Tathagata-garbha after confessing the ten non-virtuous actions, confessing the five inexpiable sins, and confessing great desire, etc. Confess as you have thought in your mind." Then, Prince Good Vision and three thousand people, having heard the Bhagavan's compassionate words, properly arranged their Dharma robes, joined their palms, bowed their heads, bared their right shoulders according to the Dharma, placed their right knees on the ground, and supplicated the Bhagavan, saying: "We and others prostrate and take refuge in the Buddhas, the Bhagavans of the ten directions! We prostrate and take refuge in the Dharma of the ten directions! We prostrate and take refuge in the Sangha of the ten directions! Again, we prostrate and take refuge in the Tathagata Akshobhya of the eastern direction! Again, we prostrate and take refuge in the Tathagata Ratnasambhava of the southern direction! Again, we prostrate and take refuge in the Tathagata Amitabha of the western direction! Again, we prostrate and take refuge in the Tathagata Amoghasiddhi of the northern direction! Again, we prostrate and take refuge in the Tathagata Gandhavyuha of the upper direction! Again, we prostrate and take refuge in the Tathagata Numerous Forms of the lower direction! Again, we prostrate and take refuge in the noble Samantabhadra of the eastern direction!"
