Entering, asceticism, the place of pure conduct, the merit of purification, and reducing possessions, this is the taking of discipline. Some think like this: I, sentient beings, life, goers, born of power, powerful ones, doers, those who cause to do, those who cause to rise, those who cause to rise, feelers, begetters, and those who cause to beget, have existed and are existing, thinking that there is, this is called the taking of speaking of self. These are the four takings. To that, the Bodhisattva, in an unspeakable manner, contemplates that it is not true and has not happened. All dharmas are of one nature, in an undifferentiated manner, contemplating that there is no object, unspeakable, not the path of words, like the moon in water, and the nature of permanence in the sky, completely understands the undifferentiatedness of the realm of dharma. Whoever tastes the taste of desire and is exceedingly happy, that is exceedingly happy with suffering. It is the place of desire. It is extreme attachment. When a Bodhisattva sees a beautiful, pleasing, and desirable form that can be known by the eye, he properly contemplates the eye consciousness as if it were a pile of fire. The eye consciousness also contemplates that the unobservable pile is also without substance, unspeakable, without letters, and does not focus on objects. The eye consciousness is also without substance and without characteristics because it does not focus on objects. Space, fire, and the eye are also unspeakable and without letters because they do not focus on objects. Similarly, if one sees a beautiful form up to having desire, then the eye consciousness and the form, both, and even the space in between, do not focus on objects. When one sees fire, the eye consciousness arises and then ceases, not remaining in the second moment. In the second moment, feeling arises, focusing as if it were a radiant pile of light. That feeling is also unspeakable, without letters, and without characteristics. After feeling arises and ceases, conception arises in the place of another moment, and it should be known as if it were the radiance of a burning flame. That is also the arising of conception.

From arising to ceasing, in the position of the second moment, formations arise, whether small, immeasurable, long, or near, like radiating light, one should thoroughly understand that formations are between arising and ceasing. In another moment, consciousness arises, just as the aggregate of radiating light arises and perishes, one should thoroughly understand that consciousness is also inexpressible, existing without letters, perishing in an instant, like contemplating the sky. The space between the flames there is also without substance, inexpressible, without letters. If the aggregate of radiating light arises and burns and ceases, everything seen has the same nature as space, inexpressible, without substance, even a single ray of light is without cause, countless. All these dharmas arise and cease, and the Bodhisattva should also observe the arising and ceasing of the five objects of desire in the same way, like contemplating the sky, observing the inexpressible and the insubstantial, and cultivate patience. These principles were spoken by the Blessed One, and one should say this about them: Form is like a heap of fire, Having truly seen desires, Eye consciousness is unconditioned, Know the eye to be like radiating light. Both are separate from substance, Inexpressible and without letters. Radiating light is like a mirage, Consciousness is like an illusion. Quickly arising and also ceasing, Both are without substance. In the second moment light radiates, There is no knowledge of different temperatures. That which arises and ceases in an instant, Feeling is like a water bubble in water. Perception is also like a flame, Know well that it has no nature. Perception and formations, Cease in two moments. Immeasurable and also small, Know them to be like a heap of light. As formations cease, So consciousness follows. Having ceased, it also arises again, Know it to be like a heap of light. Thus radiating light is without substance, Seeing all forms is like an illusion. Like swift and unmoving, The five aggregates follow. All that moves in the sky, Is like a heap of fire burning. Not truly existent, inexpressible.
