all bonds, and having completely abandoned the enjoyment of the five objects of desire, will dwell in mountain valleys and empty, uninhabited forests. With the appearance of a hermit, they will subsist on fruits, roots, and grass. They will develop a distaste for those five aggregates of clinging and will be eager to engage in diligent effort. They will contemplate those five aggregates of clinging as disease, sores, pain, impermanence, suffering, emptiness, and selflessness. They will attain the five superknowledges. They will be inclined towards the world of Brahma. Son of good family, the patience cultivated by a bodhisattva like this is non-apprehension of name, non-apprehension of sentient beings, non-apprehension of life, non-apprehension of nourishment, non-apprehension of person, non-apprehension of form, not feeling, not perception, not formation, and also non-apprehension of consciousness. Non-apprehension of the eye, and also not the ear, and also not the nose, and also not the tongue, the body also is not apprehended, and the mind also is not apprehended. Non-apprehension of form, non-apprehension of sound, non-apprehension of smell, non-apprehension of taste, non-apprehension of touch, non-apprehension of dharmas. Non-apprehension of mind, non-apprehension of body, non-apprehension of speech, non-apprehension of heart. This patience that does not apprehend emptiness and so forth, is signless, capable, without abandoning the three realms, without manifest fabrication, unborn, uncultivated, unawakened, has been spoken. Unmade, without action, that is, without action at the prior limit, without passing away at the posterior limit, truly without existence at the middle limit, not abiding, not apprehending, not attending, when cultivating this patience, the bodhisattva mahasattva obtains the patience of truly practicing the way of taming by the color of space. Having obtained this patience, the bodhisattva will be able to perform such feats as were previously described. When the bodhisattva teaches, demonstrates, and speaks about this disintegration of the aggregates, a bodhisattva named Non-Discrimination praises, saying, "Excellent!" Many bodhisattvas become silent. The Blessed One, by not speaking, indicates his approval. Then, about sixty monks think to themselves: Son of good family, what is the disintegration of the aggregates?

And thinking, he shows all the conditioned phenomena that are like illusions. If form is without self, invisible, without arising, without attention, without thought, without discrimination, without object, without realm of activity, then what is this? Sentient being? Life? Birth? Nourishment? Person? Born of power? Powerful? Agent? Experiencer? Other experience? Birth? True birth? What is it that does not change without dislike and without arising? Where did the Thus-gone One appear? Where is great compassion? Who is teaching the Dharma? Who is all-knowing of the Dharma? Where does the discipline of the training reside? If it does not become aggregates, then neither will the realms and sources cause the fruit of the Dharma of virtuous things to ripen. Where do the fruits of well-done and badly-done actions ripen? Where does the Thus-gone One, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha, appear? Where do the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, and the gods and humans, and any other sentient beings whose bodies are held by the six sources, appear? I should rise from my seat and go, I thought. Then about sixty monks rose from their seats, and from then on the other monks also became silent. Then the Bodhisattva Aggregate Destroyer felt ashamed, unconfident, and remorseful towards the Bhagavan. Then the Bodhisattva Handful of Light, having gathered there, said this to the Bodhisattva Aggregate Destroyer: Seeing what freedom of meaning, do you explain such a profound and correct Dharma to the retinue and speakers? Son of lineage, the Bhagavan has said in other sutras: to the five kinds of people, speak Dharma talks and bad words, to the faithless speak talks of faith and bad words, to the stingy speak talks of generosity and bad words, to those of bad morality speak talks of morality and bad words, to the lazy speak talks of diligence and bad words, and to those of corrupt wisdom speak talks of wisdom and bad words. Moreover, the Bhagavan has taught in other sutras: to those who commit the five heinous crimes, speak of emptiness.
