The Noble Sutra on the Conduct of Righteousness, the Patience of Taming with the Color of the Sky, a Mahāyāna Sutra, Chapter Three. The Noble Sutra on the Conduct of Righteousness, the Patience of Taming with the Color of the Sky, a Mahāyāna Sutra, Chapter Three. In Sanskrit: Ārya-saṃmyak-cārya-vrītta-gagana-varṇa-vinaya-kṣānti-nāma-mahāyāna-sūtra. In Tibetan: The Noble Sutra on the Conduct of Righteousness, the Patience of Taming with the Color of the Sky, a Mahāyāna Sutra. Volume One. Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas! Thus have I heard. At one time, the Blessed One was in a place of activity, in the town of the place of activity called Cleansing of Impurities, on the mountain called Increasing Manifestation, where a sage named Horse Wind lived in asceticism. There was a great Sangha of monks, one hundred and thirty-five monks, and Bodhisattva Mahāsattvas, who manifested with unobstructed wisdom in the realm of the Tathāgata. Having obtained the power of the blessing of immeasurable great love, they manifested to universally hold the river of sentient beings with immeasurable great compassion. With the power of the blessing of immeasurable great joy, they completely satisfied all sentient beings by raining down the rain of the memory of happiness. With the wisdom of immeasurable equanimity, they were skilled in causing all dharmas to enter into equality with the sky. They were skilled in destroying the great darkness of ignorance with the power of the clouds of Dharma, superior seeing, discriminating awareness, and wisdom. With the four means of gathering, they had the wisdom to liberate sentient beings from the four rivers, and because of thinking equally of all sentient beings, they had love, and because of being without anger, they had completely purified the path of the direction of enlightenment. They entered through the true Dharma, were skilled in great wisdom, and correctly showed the supreme path to the world. Sentient beings increased, completely drying up the water of craving with roots of virtue, and deeply entered the edge of the activity of wisdom. The wisdom of great clairvoyance shone forth, clairvoyance like the moon. With an equal mind, they understood the minds of all sentient beings, and manifested perfect mindfulness.

To show the perfect increase of skillful means for joy. Like the sky, the Dharani is filled with immeasurable precious vessel-dharmas, and for the practice of Bodhisattvas, it is the near sustenance of all beings. With the four noble truths as feet, with great power, one enters the profound path of Dharma. With equal Dharma, one subdues all the accusations of others. At the end of countless hundreds of thousands of kalpas, the practice of Bodhisattvas is endless, and all uninterrupted qualities arise. Like the wind, the mind is not stained by all worldly and transcendental dharmas. Completely abandoning the afflictions associated with all habitual tendencies. Skilled in playing in immeasurable and countless Samadhis, Dharanis, and Kṣāntis, like this: Bodhisattva named Horse and Elephant White Man, Bodhisattva named Sumeru Mountain Universally Manifest, Bodhisattva named Sumeru Mountain Moon, Bodhisattva named Inexhaustible Vastness, Bodhisattva named Wisdom Auspiciousness, Bodhisattva named Blue Eye, Bodhisattva named Maroon Lion's Roar, Bodhisattva named Treasure Light Heap, Bodhisattva named Sumeru Mountain Boundary, Bodhisattva named Victory Banner Various Emanation Melodious Sound, Bodhisattva named Lightning Heap, Bodhisattva named Virtue Radiance Immaculate King, Bodhisattva named Sumeru Mountain Power Universally Increasing, Bodhisattva named Great Powerful One Who Grants Desires, Bodhisattva named Maitreya. And so on, ten thousand Bodhisattvas, and the forerunner sage Horse Wind, thirty thousand sages, and eighteen hundred thousand divine servants, surrounded the Buddha Bhagavan and dwelt together. Then, the Bhagavan spoke to the venerable Well-Come: Well-Come, the lion throne set up by the Tathagata, I will sit upon it and listen.

For those, the words of the Shravakas will be spoken. The Blessed One replied, "Yes, it is so." The venerable one, having come well, listened, and for the sake of the Blessed One, a round palace was made. Then, the Blessed One, having looked at all the retinue, sat in the arranged round palace. Then, other monks also rose from their seats, put their robes on one shoulder, and, where the Blessed One was, folded their palms and prostrated to the Blessed One, and said this to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, what is called 'world'? Venerable Blessed One, what is called 'world'? What is the naming by which the Thus-Gone One has named 'world'?" Having said this, the Blessed One said to that monk: "Monks, 'world, world' is said, and how much is the naming by which the Thus-Gone One has named 'world'? Monk, are you asking that?" The Blessed One replied, "Yes, it is so." "Therefore, monk, listen well and keep it well in mind, and I will tell you." The monk replied, "Yes, venerable one." That monk listened to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said to him: "Monk, the so-called 'world' is of two kinds, namely, the container world and the sentient world." "Monk, what is the container world? And what is the sentient world? The earth element, the water element, the fire element, and the wind element, however much there is, is called the container." "Monk, there is an internal earth element. Monk, what is the internal earth element? Whatever is the hardness of the internal hardness, such as bones, nails, and teeth, these are called the internal earth element." "What is the external earth element? Whatever is the earth element outside the body, such as conch shells, gold, jewels, pearls, beryl, conch shells, stones, coral, silver, salep, gravel, sand, tiles, trees, grass, herbs, dusters, these are called the external earth element."
