Giving alms with a specific focus is also the perfection of discipline. What is giving? Its nature is distraction, increasing in the realm of mindfulness, focusing without leisure on the realm of non-grasping and non-rejection, and without arrogance, this is the perfection of patience. Moreover, that giving is complete with all objects of focus, complete with the wisdom of mindfulness, with various behaviors abandoning the wisdom of the path that is not in accordance, the wisdom that does not touch the path of hearers and solitary realizers, protecting the path of the inferior and greatly diminished, and those tormented by afflictions, with all compassion placing them on the path of peace, generating self-pleasure in solitary practice, and giving alms for the sake of fully embracing the Great Vehicle, this is the perfection of the bodhisattva's diligence. What is giving? In all dharmas, the characteristics are equal, in all realms, samadhi is cultivated, understanding like an empty city, in all signs understanding as mindless and without things, in all desires understanding as dependent on conditions and unsurpassed, in all discriminations understanding as bodiless and nature destroyed in an instant, in all places understanding as non-existent and not going, not going in various ways, understanding as the nature of incompleteness, this is the perfection of the bodhisattva's meditative concentration. What is giving? Thinking of self, thinking of solitude, thinking of the fruition of karma, thinking of grasping and discrimination, therefore giving alms without abiding in the aggregates of the desire realm, giving alms without grasping or rejecting in the earth element, and giving alms without grasping or rejecting in the water, fire, wind, space, and consciousness elements, for the sake of taming hearers and solitary realizers, giving alms without discrimination and without non-discrimination, in the aggregates and elements, space arises from all sides, in the nature of form not distinguishing, and in the ear, nose, tongue, body, mind, consciousness, and dharma, giving alms without distinguishing in nature, giving alms with the power of mindfulness, with the power of diligence not discriminating

Furthermore, giving without interruption, and not clinging to giving as a form of liberation. Because it is unborn and unarisen, there is no mixing, no death and transference. Giving this kind of giving is called the prajna paramita of a Bodhisattva. Moreover, not regarding giving as one's own, all enjoyments will be accomplished without being seized by obstacles, and all happiness will lead to the arising of patience. With diligence, there is no end to sentient beings, no discrimination, no acceptance or rejection of all characteristics, no dwelling in meditation, and with methods such as having wisdom towards the three realms and being separated from all objects, a Bodhisattva gives in one place. By dedicating with such a mind, one will abide in all these six paramitas. In order to subdue the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, one will have extremely firm faith. One will not generate hope for the vehicle of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. In order to subdue the heretics, one will enter all paths, but will not turn to wrong views. In order to make all sentient beings live closely, one will completely dedicate all the deeds of giving and the root of the ten virtues that accomplish all-knowing wisdom. One who has obtained the view of considering it as one's own will be diligent in morality and will truly practice asceticism and vows. In order to ripen sentient beings in hell, animals, and the world of Yama, and to completely liberate them from suffering, one will completely dedicate the root of virtue. I will not be afraid of the fear brought about by the suffering of hell, animals, and the world of Yama. I also, in the same way, with the diligence of great compassion, with the power of the aspiration to overcome others, consciously accept the same rebirth there. In order to ripen all sentient beings, one will be endowed with all patience. All momentary formations should be examined. All cherished places will be seen as they are. In order to ripen all sentient beings, one will completely dedicate the root of virtue.
