此外，应当了解菩萨的善巧方便。为什么菩萨不在母亲的胎中住九个月，而是住十个月呢？因为有些众生会想：‘唉，这一定是胎中居住的时间不够，导致根器残缺了。’因为这样想，为了显示在胎中根器圆满，所以住十个月而不是九个月。这也应当了解菩萨的善巧方便。为什么菩萨不在村庄和城市中出生，而是在寂静处出生呢？因为菩萨长久以来都赞叹寂静处的功德，安住在寂静处且行持清净的行为。如果降生在俗世的家中，那么天、龙和药叉等就无法用天香、粉末和鲜花等不断地供养，而且释迦城的众生会非常高兴，因为这些原因和条件，菩萨才在寂静处出生。为什么菩萨剖开母亲的右胁进入胎中呢？因为有些众生会想：‘菩萨是由父母的精血所生，而不是化生。’为了断除这些众生的疑惑，菩萨才剖开母亲的右胁进入胎中。进入之后，既没有伤口也没有孔洞，而且母亲摩耶也在那个时候体验到前所未有的快乐。为什么菩萨的母亲抓住无忧树的树枝，身体弯曲后菩萨才出生呢？因为有些众生会想：‘摩耶夫人像其他女人一样，以痛苦的感受生下菩萨。’为了向这些众生显示安乐，菩萨的母亲才抓住无忧树的树枝，身体弯曲后生下菩萨。为什么菩萨不从产道和身体的其他部位出生，而是剖开母亲的右胁，在具有正念和正知的情况下从产道出生呢？因为菩萨行持清净的行为，是三界一切众生中最殊胜的，所以他不应安住于产道，而且必须示现出生，以及众

Furthermore, one should understand the skillful means of a Bodhisattva. Why does a Bodhisattva not reside in the mother's womb for nine months, but for ten months? Because some sentient beings might think, 'Alas, this must be because the time spent in the womb was insufficient, leading to deficient faculties.' Because of such thoughts, in order to demonstrate the perfection of faculties in the womb, the Bodhisattva resides for ten months instead of nine. This too should be understood as the skillful means of a Bodhisattva. Why is it that a Bodhisattva is not born in villages and cities, but in a solitary place? Because a Bodhisattva has long praised the virtues of solitude, dwells in seclusion, and practices pure conduct. If born in a worldly home, the gods, nagas, and yakshas would be unable to continuously offer celestial fragrances, powders, and flowers. Moreover, the beings of the city of Shakya would be overjoyed. Due to these reasons and conditions, the Bodhisattva is born in a solitary place. Why does a Bodhisattva enter the womb by piercing the mother's right side? Because some sentient beings might think, 'The Bodhisattva is born from the essence of the parents, not miraculously.' To dispel the doubts of these beings, the Bodhisattva enters the womb by piercing the mother's right side. After entering, there are neither wounds nor holes, and the mother Maya experiences unprecedented bliss at that time. Why does the Bodhisattva's mother grasp the branch of an Ashoka tree, and with her body bent, the Bodhisattva is born? Because some sentient beings might think, 'Queen Maya gave birth to the Bodhisattva with painful feelings, like other women.' To show these beings ease and comfort, the Bodhisattva's mother grasps the branch of an Ashoka tree, and with her body bent, the Bodhisattva is born. Why does the Bodhisattva not emerge from the birth canal or other parts of the body, but pierces the mother's right side and emerges from the birth canal with mindfulness and awareness?
