Homage. Having heard this Dharma from ninety-two billion trillion Buddhas, we request the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha, to explain the Dharma of the irreversible wheel. Then, the venerable Ananda said to the Blessed One: With what intention does the Tathagata fully reveal the follower of faith, the follower of Dharma, and the eighth great practitioner, the stream-enterer, the once-returner, the non-returner, the Hearer Arhat, and the Solitary Buddha? Please, Blessed One, Tathagata, Arhat, perfectly complete Buddha, explain. Blessed One, these four assemblies do not utter a sound of coughing, nor do they remain silent. Blessed One, many hundreds of thousands of sentient beings are hesitant and seek doubt. Please, Tathagata, Arhat, perfectly complete Buddha, dispel their hesitation, as they wonder with what intention the Tathagata fully reveals the follower of faith, and the great practitioner up to the Solitary Buddha. These many are witnesses. Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Ananda: Ananda, it is so, it is so. The Tathagata, Arhat, perfectly complete Buddha, teaches the Dharma with proof. Ananda asked: Blessed One, what is the proof of the Tathagata, Arhat, perfectly complete Buddha? The Blessed One said: Ananda, the proof of the Tathagata, Arhat, perfectly complete Buddha is the Dharma. The Tathagatas, Arhats, perfectly complete Buddhas, possess the power of Dharma, and they reveal the Dharma as they have truly realized it. Ananda, therefore, listen well and keep it well in mind. How does the Tathagata, Arhat, perfectly complete Buddha, explain the follower of faith to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva?

And also fully demonstrated the follower of faith, and similarly demonstrated the follower of Dharma, the eighth, the stream-enterer, the once-returner, the non-returner, the Hearer Arhat, and the Pratyekabuddha. I have told you. Bhagavan Replied, "Good." The venerable Ananda listened to the teachings of the Bhagavan, and the Bhagavan said this: Ananda, in this, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, to countless immeasurable beings, with non-attachment, believes in order to see the Buddha, and also does not truly see those Dharmas of the Buddha, he does not cling to form, similarly, he does not cling to feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness, Ananda, this is called the Bodhisattva Mahasattva following faith. Ananda, furthermore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva believes that all these Dharmas are emptiness spoken by the Tathagata, Arhat, perfectly enlightened Buddha, Ananda, such a Bodhisattva Mahasattva who believes in this way is called the follower of faith. Ananda, furthermore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva believes in the wisdom of the Buddha, and also generates desire for it, thinking, when will I have such wisdom? However, he does not truly see that wisdom, Ananda, that Bodhisattva Mahasattva obtains the name of follower of faith. Ananda, furthermore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva does not believe in the five objects of desire, but subsequently obtains the power of increasing faith, Ananda, it should be known that that Bodhisattva Mahasattva is the follower of faith. Also, like the giving of the Tathagata, thinking, when will I also be able to practice such inconceivable Dharma giving? And also believes in that inconceivable Dharma giving. Ananda, that Bodhisattva Mahasattva is also called the follower of faith. Ananda

Moreover, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva completely gives away everything with an unyielding mind. He even completely gives away his body, but does not think of purification through giving, and is without miserliness in all ways. He dedicates all of that to Bodhi, and does not truly see Bodhi afterwards. Such not truly seeing afterwards is called following with faith. Kungawo (Ananda), furthermore, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva has complete faith in the Buddha, his mind is without defilement, he has unwavering faith in the undefiled Dharma, and he does not abandon the six sense bases, nor does he seek after them. He reveres with faith, and leads those beings who do not have faith into faith, and makes them have faith in the Buddha's Dharma. Even having faith, he generates the mind of Bodhi, and does not find that mind. From faith, he knows equality, and knows the equality of the Dharmadhatu. How does he know that? That is, it should be said that the Dharmadhatu is a term, but that realm is also not to be found. He deeply believes that all conditioned things are impermanent, deeply believes that all conditioned things are suffering, deeply believes that all conditioned things are empty, deeply believes that all conditioned things are without self, and also gains increasing strength in this. He has faith in the discipline of the noble ones, and also enters into the samadhi without elaboration. He has faith in the realm of cessation, believing that all beings are equal in the realm of cessation. With whatever faith he believes, he also truly sees the nature of that faith, and does not cling. After not clinging, he also truly sees all beings in the Dharmadhatu, but he also does not truly see that Dharmadhatu. Why is that? Because the Dharmadhatu itself is the realm of mindlessness of all beings. He deeply believes in this way, and however he thinks about those Dharmas, he believes in the same way. Such is called following with faith. Kungawo (Ananda), furthermore, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva also truly believes that all beings do not abide anywhere, and that all beings are by nature
