Venerable One, although the realm of sentient beings is vast, I am alone, without a second. And there is no one who is lifted up from my hand. Venerable One, I wander and roam in ruins. Venerable One, please comfort me! Venerable One, please comfort me so that I may be happy, so that I may quickly be completely happy, and so that my retinue may increase. After this request, the Venerable One spoke to the evil demon, saying: Evil one, become smaller than a mustard seed! Evil one, all those who do not believe in this Dharma teaching will rely on you and become your friends. Then, the evil demon was satisfied, pleased, and delighted, and with great joy and pleasure, he spoke these words: I will bless sentient beings so that they will not trust and doubt this Dharma teaching. If they doubt, they will come under my control. Then, the evil demon again said to the Venerable One: Venerable One, please comfort me so that I may be even happier than now. The Venerable One said, all those who hear my name "Shakyamuni" will not turn back. When the Venerable One said this, he did not make any sound, and the Venerable One remained silent. Please comfort me so that sentient beings will not strive to perfect the Buddha's vehicle and will not abide in Bodhi. Be sure that no sentient being is moved from the view of the perishable assembly, no sentient being is moved from clinging to form, no sentient being is moved from the sixty-two views, no sentient being is moved from clinging to the past, not moved from clinging to the future and clinging to the present, no sentient being is moved from killing, not taking what is not given, sexual misconduct, lying, divisive speech, harsh speech, idle chatter, greed, malice, and wrong views, so be it. Sinner, may you become small from the heart! Do not let any sentient being correctly accept generosity, do not let them correctly accept discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom. Sinner, may you become small from the heart! Do not let any sentient being be moved from clinging to sentient beings and clinging to the appearance of sentient beings. Do not let them be moved from thinking of them as father, mother, brother, sister, wife, son, daughter, day, night, one month, half a month. Sinner, may you become small from the heart! It should be done that way. Then, the evil Mara was pleased and rejoiced, generating joy and peace of mind, and freed from the pain of sorrow, he became a youth in that very place. Then, he scattered flowers to the Blessed One, circumambulated the Blessed One three times, and spoke this verse: The Tathagata is the best in the world, he does not speak of other perfect and complete enlightenments, he does not speak of words that change, today I have generated joy. Then, after the evil Mara spoke this verse, he left from the Blessed One like a tiny thing. Then, after the evil Mara reached his own abode, he possessed the qualities of the five heavenly desires and gained freedom, fully enjoying play and dance, and he did not generate any mind of annoyance.
