I do not do. Nor should it be called a Bodhisattva Mahasattva. It is not the true field of merit for all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Then, what is the Bodhisattva's pure discipline, the unparalleled great armor wheel? All Bodhisattvas, with an equal mind, a harmless mind, and a non-resentful mind towards all sentient beings in the ten directions, guard the pure discipline. Towards those who uphold the precepts and those who break them, those who give and those who are stingy, those who are loving and those who are hateful, those who are diligent and those who are lazy, all beings of superior, middling, and inferior levels, they completely guard the discipline with a non-discriminating mind and a non-differentiating perception. Towards all sentient beings of the three realms, they completely guard the discipline with no hatred, no anger, and no evil conduct. Towards the aggregates, realms, and sources of the three existences, they completely guard the discipline with no discrimination. They guard the discipline without dwelling in the desire realm. They guard the discipline without dwelling in the form realm. They guard the discipline without dwelling in the formless realm. They guard the discipline without dwelling in all the ripened fruits of existence. They guard the discipline without dwelling in gain and no gain. They guard the discipline without dwelling in all conditioned things. These are the pure disciplines of the Bodhisattva, called the unparalleled great armor wheel. Son of good family, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, who possesses this great armor wheel of pure discipline, from the initial generation of the mind, completely abandons the five desires and is called a Bodhisattva Mahasattva. He far surpasses all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, becomes a vast field of merit for Shravakas and all Pratyekabuddhas, and becomes an object of offering, protection, and reverence for all Shravaka and Pratyekabuddha vehicle practitioners. Then, the Blessed One, in order to clearly reiterate these meanings, spoke in verses: Those who live at home and take vows, those who are ordained

O, the discipline of individual liberation, which is common to the two vehicles, is not called great Bodhi. Wise ones who meditate on the Dharma of emptiness do not rely on or abide in all worldly things, and do not abide in all conditioned existence, but guard the completely pure discipline. The pure discipline of abandoning signs has no attachment and is free from all defilements. Those who guard this discipline in this way are called a true field of merit. Noble son, furthermore, there is the great armor-wheel of patience of the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva. If a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva possesses this wheel, from the initial generation of the mind of enlightenment, they completely abandon the five desires and transcend all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. They become a great field of merit for all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and are worshiped, protected, and revered by all practitioners of the Shravaka and Pratyekabuddha vehicles. So, what is the great armor-wheel of patience? Noble son, the patience of a Bodhisattva has two characteristics: worldly and transcendental. So, what is the worldly patience of a Bodhisattva? It is patience with defilements, focused on sentient beings, with acceptance and rejection, with signs, relying on the fruit of maturation, and relying on meritorious actions. Furthermore, it relies on my form, sound, smell, taste, and touch to be patient. Patience with engagement, patience without any consideration, patience of abandoning sentient beings with weak power, patience with deceit and deception, patience of deceiving others, and patience of not doing things that benefit and bring happiness to sentient beings. These are called the worldly patience of a Bodhisattva, and this patience is not the great armor-wheel that is uncommon to Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and others. Therefore, it cannot be called a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, nor can it be called a true field of merit for all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. So, what is the Bodhisattva's

What is the Wheel of Great Armor of Patience that Transcends the World? It is unpolluted patience. For the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings, relying on the light of the great Dharma of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, cultivate patience without attachment. Towards all actions, words, causes, characteristics, letters, and sounds, sever everything and practice patience based on the sense bases. By cultivating this patience, one can cut off the three pervasive afflictions, the three kalpas, the three characteristics, the three times, the three existences, the three formations, the three roots of non-virtue, the four rivers, the four knots, the four attachments, the four bodily knots, and so on. When cultivating this patience, the mind and intellect become extremely peaceful, therefore this is called the Wheel of Great Armor of Patience that Transcends the World of a Bodhisattva. Son of the lineage, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, possessing this Wheel of Great Armor of Patience, from the initial generation of the mind of enlightenment, in order to completely eliminate the five desires, is called a Bodhisattva Mahasattva. Far surpassing all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, becoming a vast field of merit for all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, all practitioners of the Shravaka and Pratyekabuddha vehicles will offer, protect, and revere him. Then, the Bhagavan, in order to clearly reiterate these meanings, spoke in verses: Patience has two aspects, with characteristics and without characteristics. Patience with characteristics has attachment, the wise do not praise it. Cultivating patience based on the three formations, aggregates, elements, and sense bases, that is polluted patience, not a great Bodhisattva. Eliminating the four inversions, cultivating patience without attachment, when the three formations are pacified, all will praise this patience. When all formations are completely pacified, completely abandoning all discriminations, the mind is equal like the sky, all will praise this patience. When all flavors of Dharma are in harmony, emptiness, signlessness, quiescence,
