Abiding happily in the mind, completely abandoning the four non-virtuous actions of speech, abiding in a state of equanimity, completely abandoning all desire, miserliness, and jealousy, turning towards correctness, completely abandoning all deceptive omens of good and bad, not relying on evil non-Buddhists, possessing extremely diligent effort, being diligent in all virtuous dharmas, constantly delighting in solitary places, and being happy without being weary of seeking the meaning of the Dharma. Son of good family, from the noble caste of kings to the ancient caste and the commoner caste, etc., men and women, if they possess these ten wheels of abiding and practice, then in this very life they will not turn away or degenerate from the lineage of the Hearer Vehicle, and in this very life they will realize the noble Dharma of the Hearer Vehicle and become vessels of the noble Dharma of the Hearer Vehicle, but they will not become realizers of the noble Dharma of the Solitary Realizer Vehicle and the Great Vehicle, nor vessels of the Solitary Realizer Vehicle and the Great Vehicle. Through that treatise, one should also understand the Solitary Realizer Vehicle and the Great Vehicle. Son of good family, these ten wheels of abiding and practice are common to all Hearers, Solitary Realizers, Bodhisattvas, and Buddhas, the Blessed Ones. Son of good family, there are also ten other wheels of abiding and practice that are not common to Hearers, but are common to Solitary Realizers, Bodhisattvas, and Buddhas, the Blessed Ones. Any men and women from the noble caste of kings to the ancient caste and the commoner caste, etc., if they possess these ten wheels of abiding and practice, then in this very life they will not degenerate or decline from the lineage of the Solitary Realizer Vehicle, and they will not turn back, and in this very body they will realize the noble Dharma of the Solitary Realizer Vehicle, and become vessels of the noble Dharma of the Solitary Realizer Vehicle. What are these ten? They are as follows: completely purifying the actions of body, speech, and mind, possessing shame and embarrassment, and generating great fear towards the five aggregates that one's own body takes as a source of suffering

, viewing the desires of samsara as extremely difficult to overcome, always delighting in solitary places, completely abandoning bustle, delighting in remote monasteries, not speaking of others' faults, restraining the senses, with the mind always peaceful, engaging in samadhi, being skilled in dependent origination, therefore deeply contemplating cause and effect, always delighting in meditative absorption, and being skilled in completely stopping all arising phenomena. Son of good family, from the virtuous of the royal caste to the Vaishya and Shudra castes, etc., men and women, possessing these ten wheels of abiding and conduct, then in this very life, they will not turn back or decline from the lineage of the Pratyekabuddha vehicle, and in this very life, they will realize the noble Dharma of the Pratyekabuddha vehicle, and become a vessel of the noble Dharma of the Pratyekabuddha vehicle. Son of good family, these are called the wheels of abiding and conduct of all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. If Shravakas and all Pratyekabuddhas abide in this wheel, then they will quickly cross the ocean of the three existences and reach the great city of Nirvana. Son of good family, what is the meaning of the term 'wheel of abiding and conduct'? Abiding means possessing and having attachment, being established as a place of 'mine', possessing gathering, and possessing connection. Conduct means experiencing the skandhas, experiencing the dhatus, experiencing the ayatanas, and experiencing with connection. Wheel means the wheel of learning and vows, just as a Chakravartin king mainly uses the chariot wheel or the wheel jewel. Similarly, all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas rely on this wheel to seek the path of Nirvana, therefore these two forms are not vessels of the Mahayana. Why is that? Because they rely on low and inferior conduct, therefore they are not vessels of the Mahayana. I am weary and fearful of clinging to the enjoyment of the skandhas, I dwell alone.
