་ནི་དགེ་བའི་ཆོས་ཐམས་ཅད་ཀྱི་རྩ་བ་ཞེས་བྱའོ། །འདི་ལྟ་སྟེ་ས་ཆེན་པོ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་རྩི་ཤིང་དང་། ལོ་ཏོག་དང་། ཤིང་གེལ་པ་དང་། ནགས་ཚལ་ལ་སོགས་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་སྐྱེའོ། །དེ་བཞིན་དུ་ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས་ཀྱི་རྩ་བ་བཞི་པོ་འདི་སྲུང་བ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས། དགེ་བའི་ཆོས་ཐམས་ཅད་འཕེལ་ཞིང་སྐྱེ་བར་འགྱུར་རོ། །འདི་ལྟ་སྟེ། ས་ཆེན་པོ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་རི་ཐམས་ཅད་དང་། རི་ཁོར་ཡུག་དང་། རི་ཁོར་ཡུག་ཆེན་པོ་དང་། རི་རབ་རིའི་རྒྱལ་པོ་ལ་སོགས་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་བདེ་བར་གནས་སོ། །དེ་བཞིན་དུ་ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས་ཀྱི་རྩ་བ་བཞི་པོ་སྲུང་བ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་ཉན་ཐོས་ཀྱི་ཐེག་པ་དང་། རང་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་ཐེག་པ་དང་། བླ་ན་མེད་པའི་ཐེག་པ་ཆེན་པོ་བདེ་བར་གནས་པར་འགྱུར་རོ། །འདི་ལྟ་སྟེ། ས་ཆེན་པོ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་འཇིག་རྟེན་གྱི་རོ་བྲོ་བའི་མཆོག་ཐམས་ཅད་བཙལ་གྱིས་རྙེད་དོ། །དེ་བཞིན་དུ་ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས་ཀྱི་རྩ་བ་བཞི་པོ་སྲུང་བ་ལ་བརྟེན་ནས་དྲན་པ་དང་། ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན་དང་། གཟུངས་དང་། ངང་དེས་པའི་བཟོད་པ་དང་། འཕགས་པའི་ལམ་ཐམས་ཅད་དང་། བླ་ན་མེད་པ་ཡང་དག་པར་རྫོགས་པའི་བྱང་ཆུབ་ཀྱི་བར་དུ་ཐོབ་པར་འགྱུར་རོ། །འདི་ལྟ་སྟེ་ས་ཆེན་པོ་ནི་གཙང་བ་དང་། མི་གཙང་བ་ཐམས་ཅད་སྙོམས་པར་འཛིན་ཏོ། །ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས་ཀྱི་རྩ་བ་བཞི་ཤིན་ཏུ་སྲུང་བའི་རིགས་ཀྱི་བུ་དང་། རིགས་ཀྱི་བུ་མོ་དག་ཀྱང་དེ་བཞིན་དུ་ཆོས་ཀྱི་སྣོད་དུ་གྱུར་པ་དང་། ཆོས་ཀྱི་སྣོད་དུ་མ་གྱུར་པ་ལ་སེམས་མཉམ་པར་བཞག་སྟེ། དེ་ལ་མི་བརྙས་མི་སྨད་བདག་མི་བསྟོད་མི་སྙེམས་ཅོ་མི་འདྲི་ན་དགེ་བའི་ཆོས་ཐམས་ཅད་སྐྱེ་བའི་གནས་སུ་འགྱུར་རོ། །འདི་ལྟ་སྟེ། ས་ཆེན་པོ་འདི་ལ་ནི་སེམས་ཅན་ཐམས་ཅད་དེ་ལ་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་ཅིང་བདེ་བར་འཚོའོ། །དེ་བཞིན་དུ་ཚུལ་ཁྲིམས་ཀྱི་རྩ་བ་བཞི་ཤིན་ཏུ་སྲུང་བའི་རིགས་ཀྱི་བུ་དང་། རིགས་ཀྱི་བུ་མོ་དག་ཀྱང་དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པས་བསྟན་པ་ཡང་དག་པའི་ཆོས་ལ་ཤིན་ཏུ་སྤྲོ་བ་དང་། མཆོག་དམ་པའི་བསམ་པ་དག་པས་སེམས་ཅན་ཐམས་ཅད་ལ་བྱེ་བྲག་གི་འདུ་ཤེས་མེད་པར་བསྡུ་བ་རྣམ་པ་བཞིའི་ཆོས་ཀྱིས་མཉམ་པར་བསྡུས་ཏེ། སེམས་ཅན་ཐམས་ཅད་ཆོས་ཀྱི་དགའ་བ་ལ་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་ཅིང་བདེ་བར་འཚོ་བར་བྱེད་དོ། །དེ་ནས་ཚེ་དང་ལྡན་པ་ཨུ་པ་ལིས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་གསུངས་པ་འདི་དག་ཐོས་ནས་འདུག་པ་ལས་ལངས་ཏེ། གོས་ཚགས་བཅོས་ནས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱི་ཞབས་ལ་སྤྱི་བོས་གཏུགས་ཏེ་བླ་གོས་གཅིག་ཏུ་བྱས། པུས་མོ་གཡས་པའི་ལྷ་ང་ས་ལ་བཙུགས་ནས་ཐལ་མོ་སྦྱར་བ་བཏུད་དེ
Chinese
是为一切善法之根本。譬如，依仗大地，一切草木、庄稼、树木、森林等皆能生长。同样，依靠守护这四条戒律之根本，一切善法皆能增长和生起。譬如，依仗大地，一切山脉、山脉周围、大山脉周围、须弥山王等皆能安住。同样，依靠守护这四条戒律之根本，声闻乘、缘觉乘、无上大乘皆能安住。譬如，依仗大地，世间一切美味皆可寻得。同样，依靠守护这四条戒律之根本，直至获得忆念、禅定、总持、安忍、一切圣道，乃至无上正等觉。譬如，大地平等承载一切清净与不清净之物。同样，对于那些极其守护四条戒律之根本的善男子和善女子，他们也能平等对待成为法器和未成为法器者，不轻蔑、不诽谤，不赞扬自己、不骄傲自满、不寻衅滋事，那么一切善法都会成为生起之处。譬如，一切众生皆依此大地而受用，安乐生活。同样，对于那些极其守护四条戒律之根本的善男子和善女子，他们也能以如来所宣说的正法为乐，以最殊胜清净的意乐，以四种摄事平等摄受一切众生，不作差别之想，使一切众生受用佛法的喜乐，安乐生活。之后，具寿优波离听闻世尊所说，从座位上起身，整理好衣物，以头顶礼世尊之足，袒露右肩，右膝着地，合掌恭敬地
English
This is said to be the root of all virtuous dharmas. For example, relying on the great earth, all plants, crops, trees, forests, and so on, grow. Similarly, by relying on guarding these four roots of discipline, all virtuous dharmas will increase and arise. For example, relying on the great earth, all mountains, surrounding mountains, great surrounding mountains, Mount Sumeru, the king of mountains, and so on, all abide in peace. Similarly, by relying on guarding these four roots of discipline, the Hearer Vehicle, the Solitary Realizer Vehicle, and the unsurpassed Great Vehicle will abide in peace. For example, relying on the great earth, all the best flavors of the world can be found by searching. Similarly, by relying on guarding these four roots of discipline, one will attain mindfulness, samadhi, dharani, patient endurance, all noble paths, and even unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment. For example, the great earth equally holds all that is clean and unclean. Similarly, those sons and daughters of good families who greatly guard the four roots of discipline will also equally regard those who have become vessels of dharma and those who have not, without despising or slandering them, without praising themselves or being arrogant, without provoking quarrels, and then all virtuous dharmas will become a place of arising. For example, all sentient beings enjoy and live happily on this great earth. Similarly, those sons and daughters of good families who greatly guard the four roots of discipline will also delight in the true dharma taught by the Thus Gone One, and with the most excellent and pure intention, they will equally gather all sentient beings with the four ways of gathering, without any discriminating thoughts, and cause all sentient beings to enjoy the joy of the dharma and live happily. Then, the venerable Upali, having heard these words spoken by the Bhagavan, rose from his seat, arranged his robes, touched the feet of the Bhagavan with his head, bared one shoulder, knelt on his right knee, and bowed with folded hands.
