If someone has already been ordained or given the Bhikshu vows, then their preceptor is guilty and should be expelled from the Sangha. In this way, since that person has already been ordained and has conduct and attire, it is not permitted to whip or beat them with sticks, imprison them, scold and rebuke them, cut off their limbs, or deprive them of their life force. Furthermore, there are four types of great offenses that are close to the five inexpiable sins. What are these four? Killing a Pratyekabuddha with an unwholesome mind; this is a great offense among killings and is the root of evil. Engaging in impure conduct with an Arhat Bhikshuni; this is a great offense among sexual misconduct and is the root of evil. Using the wealth of the Three Jewels given in faith; this is a great offense among taking what is not given and is the root of evil. Creating dissension in the harmonious Sangha with evil views; this is a great offense among lying and is the root of evil. If someone commits even one of these four types of great offenses that are close to the five inexpiable sins, they should not be allowed to ordain or receive the Bhikshu vows. If they have already been ordained or given the Bhikshu vows, then their preceptor is guilty and should be expelled from my teachings. In this way, if that person has been ordained or received the Bhikshu vows and has conduct and attire, it is not permitted to whip or beat them with sticks, scold, rebuke, imprison them, cut off their limbs, or even take their life. In this way, some are root sins but not inexpiable sins. Some are inexpiable sins but not root sins. Some are both root sins and inexpiable sins. Some are neither root sins nor inexpiable sins. So, what is a root sin and also an inexpiable sin? For example, intentionally thinking about someone who has ordained and received the Bhikshu vows in my teachings

Killing a realized being who has seen the truth. This is both a root offense and an offense without interval, so it must be quickly expelled from the Vinaya teachings I have taught. How then is it a root offense but not an offense without interval? For example, having renounced in my teachings and having taken full ordination, intentionally thinking to kill another person, or as a child giving poison to kill one dwelling in the womb. These are root offenses, but not offenses without interval. That person is not allowed to dwell together with the Sangha, enjoying possessions, nor to use the wealth of the Sangha of the four directions. How then is it an offense without interval but not a root offense? For example, if someone has gone for refuge to the Three Jewels, or keeps the five precepts, or those who keep the ten precepts, if they have committed just one of the five offenses without interval, that is called an offense without interval but not a root offense. That person is not allowed to renounce or receive full ordination. If they have renounced or given full ordination, then their teacher is with sin, and must be expelled from my teachings. How then is it neither a root offense nor an offense without interval? For example, if someone has gone for refuge to the Three Jewels, or having kept the five precepts, doubt arises in their mind towards the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, and having gone for refuge to a non-Buddhist, they hold them as a teacher, or they hold various omens as omens and forget the worldly gods. If someone slanders and distorts the holy Dharma spoken by the Thus-Gone One, the holy Dharma endowed with the Hearer Vehicle, the holy Dharma endowed with the Solitary Buddha Vehicle, and the holy Dharma endowed with the Great Vehicle, and makes obstacles and hindrances, and because they themselves do not believe or have faith, they also turn others away from it and make hindrances, and if they interrupt and make obstacles even to just one verse of others reading, reciting, and writing in books, then that is neither a root offense nor an offense without interval, but a deed of great transgression.

It is called without place and near. If a person conceals serious sinful deeds, he is not allowed to be ordained or receive the Bhikshu vows until he has confessed and repented. If someone ordains him or gives him the Bhikshu vows, then that teacher is sinful and should be expelled from my teachings. If someone, after being ordained or receiving the Bhikshu vows, does not confess and repent of those serious sins, then he must be quickly expelled from the Vinaya I have taught. Why? Because those two kinds of people make the eye of the sacred Dharma blind, make the lamp of the sacred Dharma extinguished, and completely cut off the lineage of the Three Jewels. They cause gods and humans to experience meaningless, useless suffering and cause them to fall into the lower realms. Those two kinds of people themselves slander the sacred Dharma and revile the noble ones, and also cause others to slander the sacred Dharma and revile the noble ones. Immediately after death, they fall into the great hell of uninterrupted suffering and experience suffering for eons, and cannot be restored. Great Brahma, there are also sins of precepts that should not be dwelt in and should not be done, and there are also sins of nature that should not be dwelt in and should not be done. There are also sins of nature that turn into root sins, that should not be dwelt in and should not be done. So, what are the dharmas of root sins that should not be dwelt in and should not be done? For example, if a Bhikshu engages in impure conduct, commits a root sin, and intentionally kills a person, commits a root sin, and steals property that does not belong to the Three Jewels, commits a root sin, and speaks a great lie, commits a root sin. If a Bhikshu commits any one of these four kinds of root sins, then he cannot be counted among the actions of a Bhikshu, he has no right to enjoy all offerings and the property of the Sangha of the four directions, and he will also be subjected to whipping, flogging, imprisonment, scolding, reviling, mutilation, deprivation of life, and all such punishments.
