Homage (namas byed mos). The king established religious laws with wisdom, in order to uplift and save those who wander extremely. Regarding these three natures of action, whoever eliminates doubts and does not regress. The Blessed One spoke thus: If one does not abide, does not do, does not act, even if one has great wisdom and sharp intellect, one will fall into hell due to the five heinous crimes. Even if one is not wise, but is a true person, if one practices the wheel of ten evils, completely cutting off the roots of virtue, one will quickly fall into hell. Samadhi cuts off all afflictions; it is not by the merit of listening. Therefore, those who desire to transcend suffering should always abide in meditation. The wise should always strive diligently to protect and maintain my true Dharma. By wearing the ochre robe and having faith and reverence, one will be liberated from the ocean of afflictions. Residing in extremely secluded remote places, completely abandoning the commission of the five heinous crimes. By upholding morality and practicing samadhi, one will be liberated from the ocean of existence through faith. Having faith in all three vehicles will propagate my true Dharma. If one makes offerings to those who wear the ochre robe, one will surely enter the ocean of virtues. Utterly subduing the mind that is difficult to tame, not speaking of the faults of the monks. Living contentedly and leading a noble life, one will surely become the supreme among the two-legged beings. Abandoning sinful monks and relying on the conduct of the noble ones. Not using or consuming the wealth of the Sangha, one will quickly attain great Bodhi. All happiness and joy in the three realms arise from the Three Jewels. Therefore, those who desire happiness and joy should always make offerings to the Three Jewels. Including the Chandala kings and others, as well as the companions of evil-doing monks, by creating sins against the Three Jewels, they will fall into hell due to the five heinous crimes. The sins of ten oil presses are equal to the sin of one prostitute. The sins of ten prostitutes are equal to the sin of one tavern. The sins of ten taverns are equal to the sin of one butcher. The sins of ten butchers are equal to the sin of one king. The true virtuous kings propagate all my true Dharma.

By offering to all three vehicles, it transforms into an ocean of qualities. By filling Jambudvipa with the seven precious things and offering them to the Buddha and Sangha, the accumulation of merit obtained from that does not equal the merit of protecting the Dharma. The places where the Buddha and Sangha reside, made equal to the four continents, even the accumulation of merit obtained from that does not equal the merit of protecting the Dharma. Building stupas for the Buddhas, made equal to the three thousand worlds, even the accumulation of merit obtained from that does not equal the merit of protecting the Dharma. Having released the bonds of the Arhats, and offering all kinds of offerings, not obstructing the Dharma, that merit is superior to the former. For billions of kalpas, the wise meditate on samadhi, whatever special wisdom arises from that, the merit of protecting the Dharma is greater. Whichever extremely virtuous kings, abandoning the wheel of the ten evils, protect my true Dharma? And also protect those who wear the ochre robes? They do not slander the three vehicles that I have spoken of, and sentient beings. They all listen and make offerings, and act as protectors and guardians of the Dharma speakers. They do not steal the wealth of the Three Jewels, and do not obstruct those who wear Dharma robes. For all who are vessels and non-vessels, if they are respectful, their merit is incomparable. Just as when five suns rise, all the great oceans will dry up, similarly, my Dharma protector will dry up the ocean of afflictions. Just as when the destruction by wind occurs, and all the mountains are destroyed, so too, my protector of the Dharma will destroy all defilements. Just as when destruction by water occurs, the great earth is submerged by water and destroyed, similarly, my protector of the Dharma will also destroy undesirable results. Just as the wish-fulfilling jewel completely fulfills all desires, similarly, the Dharma of the three vehicles also fulfills the wishes of all sentient beings. Whoever finds a good vase, will be free from poverty and attain happiness, similarly, encountering the Buddha's Dharma, they will cut off doubt and hear of enlightenment. Just as when the fifteenth moon is full, the light

The earth and sky, all appear completely. Likewise, the person who protects the Dharma, with wisdom pervades the entire Dharmadhatu, just as the sky is equal everywhere. Without substance and without characteristics, likewise, the person who protects the Dharma, knows that all Dharmas have one taste. Just as the rays of the sun spread, dispelling all the darkness of the world, likewise, the person who protects the Dharma, constantly brings happiness to all beings in the world. Thus concludes the third chapter, "The Chapter on What Should Not Be Abode in or Practiced," from the Greatly Expanded Sutra, the Ten Wheels of the Essence of Earth. Third: The chapter on what should not be abode in or practiced.
