Liberation is also nothing at all. Blessed One, liberation does not cause any dharma to increase, nor does it cause it to decrease. Blessed One, liberation does not exist from anywhere, bondage does not exist anywhere. Blessed One, a bhikṣu thinks of mind liberation in this way: 'My mind is liberated.' Otherwise, he knows all dharmas as they are in liberation. Blessed One, if someone thinks in this way that saṃsāra is a fault and nirvāṇa is liberation, this is not mind liberation. Why is that? Because of clinging to self, one thinks in that way. Blessed One, if someone thinks in this way that it is sufficient to completely be liberated from suffering by means of my aggregates, elements, and sense bases, this is not mind liberation. Why is that? Because of clinging to self, one thinks in that way. Blessed One, a bhikṣu with mind liberation is like this: all dharmas are the nature of liberation, which is not understood by ordinary people. I should thus comprehend the nature of dharma. Blessed One, a bhikṣu with mind liberation does not think, 'I should attain mind liberation.' However, he thinks in this way: 'I should have great compassion for those who universally seek liberation in all extremely liberated dharmas.' Why is that? Because those who universally seek liberation are unable to attain liberation. Blessed One, therefore, a bhikṣu who seeks liberation should seek bondage. Whoever sees bondage as it truly is does not cling to liberation, and this is called mind liberation. Blessed One, this is a correct exposition of the dharma of the bodhisattvas. Then, the bodhisattva Ocean of Intelligence said this to the Blessed One: Blessed One, a bodhisattva should not be afraid of afflictions. Why is that? Because where there are afflictions, there is enlightenment, and where there are no afflictions

It is also for the sake of not attaining enlightenment. Emptiness and afflictions are not two; there is no distinction between the two. Bhagavan, enlightenment and afflictions are not two; there is no distinction between the two. Otherwise, due to the stream of mind fallen into perversion, foolish ordinary beings think, "I am afflicted." Thinking, "I am pure," is not the case. Bhagavan, a Bodhisattva who dwells correctly neither eliminates afflictions nor cultivates the absence of afflictions. A Bodhisattva who individually examines the gate of afflictions obtains the gates of samadhi and dharani. Bhagavan, therefore, afflictions themselves are the lineage of the Buddhadharma for Bodhisattvas. Those foolish beings with distracted and perverse minds will fall into the lower realms and experience suffering. A Bodhisattva, through correct individual examination, comprehends the enlightenment of the Buddha. Bhagavan, therefore, a Bodhisattva should turn away from the ordinary path and enter (the right path), not follow the ordinary path. Bhagavan, a Bodhisattva is liberated from nirvana, but not from samsara. What is the reason for this? A Bodhisattva fears nirvana, but not samsara. If one individually examines samsara, one obtains great compassion for sentient beings. One also obtains the enlightenment of the Buddha. If one fully examines nirvana, one will become disgusted with samsara. A Bodhisattva who is disgusted with samsara completely loses the enlightenment of the Buddha. For those who dwell in samsara, the Bodhisattva generates great love and great compassion, but not for those who dwell in nirvana. Bhagavan, what is called nirvana nirvana is not truly real, but a euphemism for the complete pacification of conceptualization. Bhagavan, therefore, a Bodhisattva seeking nirvana should seek the pacification of conceptualization, and from that, nirvana will be obtained. Bhagavan, this is the correct statement of the Dharma.

Okay. The seventh chapter, which is the last. Then, the Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara requested the Blessed One, saying: Blessed One, Bodhisattvas should not study too many dharmas. Blessed One, if a Bodhisattva can well grasp and understand one dharma, Blessed One, then all the Buddha's dharmas are in his palm. What is this one dharma? It is great compassion. Blessed One, great compassion enables all the Buddha's dharmas to be in the palms of the Bodhisattvas. Blessed One, it is like wherever the precious wheel of a Chakravartin king goes, all the troops will follow. Blessed One, similarly, wherever the great compassion of a Bodhisattva goes, all the Buddha's dharmas will be there. Blessed One, it is like when the sun rises, all the activities of sentient beings become very numerous. Blessed One, similarly, wherever great compassion arises, the activities of other dharmas for achieving Bodhi also become very numerous. Blessed One, it is like if there is the power of life, other senses will also arise. Blessed One, similarly, if there is great compassion, other dharmas for achieving Bodhi will also arise, Blessed One, this is the most correct explanation of the Dharma. The Bodhisattva Steadfast Wisdom requested, saying: Blessed One, perfect intention is the root of all dharmas, and for those who do not have intention, all the Buddha's dharmas are far away from them. Blessed One, for perfect intention, even if the Buddha is not dwelling in the world, Dharma will arise from the sky, walls, and trees. The Bodhisattva's pure intention can generate all the teachings and subsequent instructions from the discernment of one's own mind. Blessed One, therefore, Bodhisattvas should have perfect intention. Blessed One, it is like those who have feet can walk. Blessed One, similarly, those who have intention can possess the Buddha's Dharma.
