The depth of the ocean cannot be fathomed. Blessed One, the sky can be measured, but the minds of those great beings cannot be measured. Blessed One, the wind can be grasped, but the realm of those great beings cannot be traversed. Blessed One, water can be found in mirages, but from those great beings, grasping at self and grasping at what belongs to self cannot be found. Blessed One, this is the true Dharma discourse. Then, the Bodhisattva Meek Eyes spoke thus to the Blessed One: Blessed One, through the mind of enlightenment, all phenomena are comprehended. Why is that? Blessed One, all phenomena are regarded as merely the essence of complete imputation, merely mind, not substantial. There is no substance. Like illusion, without root. Accomplished by desire. Separate from agent and experiencer. Non-abiding. Separate from abiding. Blessed One, all phenomena are not endowed with a beginning. Not dual. Separate from duality. Blessed One, all phenomena are without "mine," without grasping. All phenomena are without a lord, equal to the realm of Dharma. All phenomena arise suddenly, non-abiding, free from attachment. All phenomena are free from complete imputation and discrimination, free from eliminating discrimination. All phenomena are merely to be known, and because the knower is empty, they are not to be taken up, not to be revered, but merely to be fully known. In this, foolish ordinary beings conceive of self in those without self, and conceive of sentient beings in those without sentient beings. They should comprehend such a Dharma nature as this. The Bodhisattva who generates such a mind is called the Bodhisattva's mind of enlightenment. The mind that benefits all sentient beings, the mind of happiness, the unsurpassed mind, the mind born from the realm of Dharma, and that which arises dependent on all realms of sentient beings, this is called the mind of enlightenment. Blessed One, furthermore, the perfection of giving...

The Dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment bring a mind of definite emergence. Recollecting the Buddha brings an unwavering mind. Recollecting the Dharma brings a mind of the realm of Dharma. Recollecting the Sangha brings a mind without wishes. Recollecting discipline brings a mind without clinging to superiority. Recollecting giving brings a mind without attachment. Recollecting the deities brings a mind in which all collections of virtue are perfectly accomplished. This is what is called the mind of enlightenment of the Bodhisattvas. Bhagavan, even if I were to begin with the mind of enlightenment and explain it for an eon or more than an eon, I would not be able to reach its end. Bhagavan, in that case, the generation of the mind of enlightenment by the Bodhisattvas arises from a cause that is immeasurable. Bhagavan, therefore, a Bodhisattva should take all virtuous Dharmas from the mind of enlightenment. Bhagavan, this is the true declaration of the Dharma. Then, the Bodhisattva Well-Born said this to the Bhagavan: Bhagavan, all Dharmas are unborn because their root is completely pure. Bhagavan, what is the root of these Dharmas? Non-attachment to appearances is the root of the Dharmas. Bhagavan,

Emptiness is the root of all dharmas; in it, all views do not exist. Signlessness is the root of all dharmas; in it, all discriminations do not exist. Wishlessness is the root of all dharmas; in it, the afflictions of the three realms do not exist. Non-manifestation is the root of all dharmas; in it, the agent does not exist. Selflessness is the root of all dharmas; in it, the view of self does not arise. Absence of sentient beings is the root of all dharmas; in it, the view of sentient beings does not arise at all. Absence of life is the root of all dharmas; in it, the view of life does not arise at all. All dharmas are unborn; in it, the view of permanence does not arise at all. All dharmas are equal to nirvana; in it, the view of destruction does not arise at all. All dharmas are enlightenment; in it, the view of becoming a Buddha does not arise at all. All dharmas are un- created; in it, the view of dharma does not arise at all. All dharmas are un-assembled; in it, the view of sangha does not arise at all. Blessed One, this is the true declaration of the Dharma. The Bodhisattva Guide asked: Blessed One, Bodhisattvas initially desire all sentient beings to attain enlightenment, not for themselves. Whoever strives for all for the sake of sentient beings, yet does not perceive sentient beings, and does not abandon great love and great compassion. What is the great love of those Bodhisattvas? If a Bodhisattva does not perceive sentient beings, and does not abandon the armor of manifesting all roots of virtue, and dedicates those roots of virtue to enlightenment, this is called great love. What does not interrupt the deeds of sentient beings, this is their great compassion. Whoever truly sees samsara as nirvana, and does not abandon the diligence of truly obscuring
