Those deaths are the complete upholding of the true Dharma. Those who utter all words, yet have no manifest expression, those are the complete upholding of the true Dharma. Blessed One, those who are not attached to all dharmas, and who do not turn back to any side, those are the complete upholding of the true Dharma. Blessed One, I think this is the true declaration of the Dharma. Blessed One, am I acting in accordance with the true declaration of the Dharma? The Blessed One said: Ananda, this of yours is in accordance with the true declaration of the Dharma. When Ananda spoke this true Dharma, eighty thousand sons of the gods generated the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Thirty-two thousand Bodhisattvas obtained forbearance in the Dharma of non-arising. Five hundred monks, without attachment, had their minds completely liberated from defilements. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Maitreya said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, just as one abandons chaff and takes rice, so too, one abandons what is not Dharma and upholds the Dharma. For a Bodhisattva, abandoning miserliness and giving charity, abandoning immoral conduct and upholding morality, abandoning malice and practicing patience, abandoning laziness and practicing diligence, abandoning distraction and practicing meditation, abandoning wrong wisdom and upholding wisdom, this is the true declaration of the Dharma. Blessed One, furthermore, wishing with the mind is not Dharma. One who does not wish, does not grasp. One who does not grasp, does not protect. One who does not protect, is not afflicted by defilements. One who is not afflicted by defilements, does not dispute. One who does not dispute, does not become angry. One who does not become angry, is not wounded. One who is not wounded, does not enter or regress; that is non-regression. Blessed One, for a non-regressing Bodhisattva, the Tathagatas prophesy their attainment of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, Blessed One, this is Dharma. Blessed One, this is the true declaration of the Dharma. Blessed One, furthermore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva thinks thus: I am non-regressing...

Furthermore, the Tathagata does not give predictions to the thought, "I shall awaken to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment and become a Buddha." Why is that? World Honored One, it is because desire is the root of all afflictions. World Honored One, if one is free from desire, then one is free from afflictions, and predictions are given to those who are free from afflictions. World Honored One, furthermore, a Bodhisattva thinks, "Speaking words that are not in accordance with the world is a prediction." Why is that? Because what is predicted does not exist here, and the one who predicts also does not exist in that way. If what is predicted does not exist, and the one who predicts also does not exist in that way, then how can there be a prediction for this? Furthermore, World Honored One, endowed with great compassion, in order to make it in accordance with the world, the Bodhisattva who says, "Will become a Buddha," a prediction is given to the Bodhisattva who understands in that way. World Honored One, for example, even if a magical illusionist gives a prediction to a magical illusion, that magical illusion does not think, "I have been predicted to become a Buddha." Similarly, World Honored One, the Bodhisattva, the magical illusionist, also has no change. He also thinks this: Enlightenment is neither the nature of attainment, nor the nature of abandonment; enlightenment is neither the nature of arising, nor the nature of cessation; enlightenment is neither something that can be fully awakened to by the body, nor by the mind; enlightenment is neither from within, nor from without, nor is it seen in between the two; enlightenment does not think, "I am enlightenment, I will fully awaken to enlightenment and become a Buddha," thinking that one does not think in this way, World Honored One, this is truly speaking the true Dharma. World Honored One, furthermore, a Bodhisattva on the Extremely Joyful Ground has neither joy nor displeasure; on the Immaculate Ground, there is neither increase nor decrease; on the Luminous Ground, there is neither delusion nor looking up; on the Blazing Wisdom Ground, there is neither abandonment nor attainment; on the Very Difficult to Conquer Ground, there is neither birth nor joy; on the Manifest Ground
