Your statement is in accordance with the true Dharma. Then, the venerable Mahakashyapa said this to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, to speak the true Dharma by seeking solitude is not to speak the true Dharma. Blessed One, all dharmas are non-dual, therefore one abides in solitude. Being separated from mind, intellect, and consciousness, therefore one does not seek the other. Being separated from seeking, therefore one does not seek the other. There being no action, therefore one is not indicated by the other. Blessed One, moreover, saying solitude, solitude, this is a term for non-duality, and apart from non-duality, there is no dharma whatsoever. Blessed One, all dharmas are non-dual, being the nature of emptiness, the nature of signlessness, the nature of wishlessness, the nature of non-manifestation, the nature of unborn and unarisen. It is also not obtained by the characteristic of purity, nor by the characteristic of impurity. It is also not obtained by the miserly, nor by those who are fond of giving. It is also not obtained by those who are immoral, nor by those who are virtuous. It is also not obtained by those who have harmful minds, nor by those who are perfect in patience. It is also not obtained by the lazy, nor by those who have exerted effort. It is also not obtained by those whose minds are distracted, nor by those who are in meditative equipoise. It is also not obtained by those who have deficient wisdom, nor by those who possess wisdom. Whatever all dharmas are not obtained, those are called the attainment of dharmas. Such an attainment is not obtained by those who are object-oriented towards formations, nor by those who are object-oriented towards mind, nor by those who are object-oriented towards duality, nor by those who abide in an object. It is not obtained by those who desire to realize, nor by those who desire to abandon. It is not obtained by those who possess the mind of arising, nor by those who have the Buddha as their object. It is not obtained by those who have the Dharma and Sangha as their object, nor by those who view samsara and nirvana as two.

No, Blessed One. Furthermore, Blessed One, whoever seeks the Dharma does not actually seek anything. Blessed One, not seeking all dharmas is seeking the Dharma. A Bodhisattva who has entered the right path does not perceive Dharma or non-Dharma. Similarly, one thinks thus: Whatever is free from all arrogance is Dharma. Whatever is free from all attachments to Dharma is Dharma. Whatever is free from all mental aspirations is Dharma. Whatever has completely pacified all proliferation is Dharma. If someone says, "This is the correct way to speak of the Dharma," I think. Blessed One, is what I do in accordance with speaking correctly about the Dharma? The Blessed One said: Mahakashyapa, what you say is in accordance with speaking correctly about the Dharma. Then, the Venerable Subhuti said this to the Blessed One: Blessed One, the term "Dharma, Dharma" is merely a nominal term without sound. Whatever does not produce sound is its Dharma. Blessed One, therefore, the eye does not produce sound for forms, the ear for sounds, the nose for smells, the tongue for tastes, the body for tactile sensations, and the mind does not produce sound for dharmas; that is the Dharma. How does the eye not produce sound for forms? Because there is no contact. The eye does not contact forms, the ear does not contact sounds, the nose does not contact smells, the tongue does not contact tastes, the body does not contact tactile sensations, and the mind does not contact dharmas. Whatever does not contact does not produce sound. Blessed One, if there is no duality, then there is no sound in the Dharma. Blessed One, all dharmas are non-dual; they do not seek each other, do not observe each other, do not discriminate, do not arise, do not perish, do not decrease, do not increase, do not cling, do not not cling, do not revolve in samsara, do not attain nirvana; these are not anyone's, these are nothing. Blessed One, these dharmas are neither repulsive nor attractive. Blessed One, these dharmas will also not be completely defiled.

Nor will it transform into complete purification. Bhagavan, I understand it thus! I realize it thus! Bhagavan, what I understand and realize in this way, as I have said, is the transformation of the aggregates. Bhagavan, the aggregates do not think, 'This is our transformation.' One who understands in this way does not dispute with anyone. One who does not dispute follows the Dharma of a bhikshu. One who follows the Dharma of a bhikshu does not enter from anywhere, nor does one exit. One does not unite, nor does one separate. One does not go, nor does one stay. One does not diminish, nor does one increase. One sees everything as the nature of Dharma. One sees everything as the nature of consciousness. One sees everything as the nature of the Dharmadhatu. Thus, one sees everything arising, but in arising, one does not see a true following. In others, one sees only names, only designations, only conventions, which do not truly exist. That name is also without a name. That designation is also without a designation. That convention is also without a convention. Seeing the Dharma is seeing the Buddha. Seeing the Buddha is seeing all sentient beings. Seeing all sentient beings is seeing causes and conditions. Seeing causes and conditions is seeing emptiness. Seeing emptiness is not seeing anything. Bhagavan, not seeing all Dharmas is true seeing. Bhagavan, one who possesses such a view does not please the Buddhas, nor does one displease them. One does not please the Dharma, nor does one displease it. One does not please the Sangha, nor does one displease it. Bhagavan, a Bodhisattva who possesses such forbearance does not even dispute with the Maras, let alone dispute with those who follow the Dharma. That is not the place. Seeing that all statements are accomplished on my side, one does not dispute with anyone. Without dispute, one does not utter sounds with anyone. Possessing the Dharma of no sound is the Dharma.
