Venerable One, what is meant by "falsely imputing a false imputation"? Venerable One, by what means is it called a "false imputation"? Whatever false imputation does not abandon emptiness and dependent arising, and is in accordance with non-arising and non-cessation, abandoning conception, various conceptions, and complete conceptions, cutting off self-grasping and what belongs to self, eliminating all views, that is the false imputation of the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who seek complete false imputation. Whatever false imputation is understood in this way, that is truly speaking the Dharma. Venerable One, whoever truly speaks the Dharma, whoever is the one who truly speaks the Dharma, and to whomever the Dharma is truly spoken, all of these have one characteristic, namely, the characteristic of the realm of Dharma. If one thinks that speaking the Dharma in this way is truly speaking the Dharma, then, Venerable One, is my speaking in accordance with truly speaking the Dharma? The Venerable One said: Maudgalyayana's son, your speaking is in accordance with truly speaking the Dharma. Then, the venerable son of Loving-Mother addressed the Venerable One, saying: Venerable One, whoever speaks the Dharma truly seeking merit, that is a fault in his truly speaking the Dharma. Why is that? Venerable One, because clinging to self and attachment to self, one accumulates merit, non-merit, and unwavering actions. Because clinging to self and attachment to self, one is not liberated from views and what has become views, therefore, benefiting oneself or benefiting others is of no use. Venerable One, how can one who neither benefits oneself nor benefits others truly speak the Dharma? Venerable One, whoever seeks the Dharma does not seek merit, non-merit, or unwavering actions, nor does he not seek them. Whoever seeks all dharmas does not seek aggregates, nor does he not seek aggregates. He does not seek elements, nor does he not seek elements. He does not seek sources, nor does he not seek sources.

That is neither seeking sentient beings, nor not seeking. That is neither seeking dharmas, nor not seeking. That is neither seeking truth, nor seeking falsehood. That is neither seeking a place, nor seeking what arises from places. That is neither seeking desire, hatred, and delusion, nor seeking to abandon desire, hatred, and delusion. That is neither seeking samsara, nor seeking nirvana. That is neither seeking fighting, arguing, and debating, nor seeking to be silent. That is neither seeking emptiness, nor seeking those who have become views. That is neither seeking the absence of signs, nor seeking discrimination. That is neither seeking aspiration, nor seeking the absence of aspiration. That is neither seeking the dharmas of the Buddha, nor seeking the dharmas of ordinary beings. That is neither seeking dharma, nor seeking what is not dharma. That is neither seeking the noble Sangha, nor seeking the Sangha of non-Buddhists. World Honored One, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who is endowed with the complete attainment of Dharma does not seek in any birth, because all dharmas are his birth. Liberation is also not sought everywhere, because all dharmas are its complete liberation. There is no true attachment anywhere, nor is there anger, because all dharmas are neither mine nor others. There is no grasping of any dharma, nor is there abandonment, because both grasping and abandonment are faults. There is no entering, nor is there returning, because both entering and returning are faults. There is no joy anywhere, nor is there displeasure, because both joy and displeasure are faults. World Honored One, if I think that this is the correct statement of the Dharma, World Honored One, am I acting in accordance with the correct statement of the Dharma? The World Honored One said: Gangpo, what you have said is in accordance with the correct statement of the Dharma. Then the Venerable Katyayana's son, the great elder, said to the World Honored One:
