was obtained. (Enlightenment). Six thousand sons of the gods, with respect to the dharmas, their eyes of dharma were free from dust and stainlessly pure. Five thousand monks turned away from the mind of the Hearers and generated the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. The Bhagavan prophesied that they would manifestly and completely awaken to enlightenment in various Buddha-fields. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Asanga asked the Bhagavan: "Bhagavan, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva become skilled in the grasped and the grasper?" The Bhagavan replied: "When Bodhisattvas truly know everything, then they are skilled in the grasped and the grasper." The Bodhisattva Asanga asked: "Bhagavan, how does one know everything?" The Bhagavan replied: "Son of good family, one should view everything as like a dream, like an illusion, like a city of gandharvas, like a mirage, like a whirling firebrand, like entangled hair, like a manifestation, like an echo, like a reflection." The Bodhisattva Asanga asked: "Bhagavan, what is it to view everything as like a dream, like an illusion, like a city of gandharvas, like a mirage, like a whirling firebrand, like entangled hair, like a manifestation, like an echo, like a reflection?" The Bhagavan replied: "Son of good family, 'everything' means the eye and form, the ear and sound, the nose and smell, the tongue and taste, the body and touch, the mind and dharmas. Son of good family, these are all the knowable things that should be viewed as like a dream, like an illusion, like a city of gandharvas, like a mirage, like a whirling firebrand, like entangled hair, like a manifestation, like an echo, like a reflection. Among them, the grasper is the eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind. The grasped is form, sound, smell, taste, touch, and dharmas.
