Whatever belongs to a Bodhisattva, there is nothing that a Bodhisattva does not give to sentient beings. This is called the giving of a Bodhisattva. What is the great giving of a Bodhisattva? It is when a Bodhisattva, with perfect giving, performs great giving. For example, completely giving away one's wife, sons, daughters, beloved male servants, female servants, laborers, those who live on wages, houses, and kingdoms, this is called the great giving of a Bodhisattva. What is the supreme giving of a Bodhisattva? It is when a Bodhisattva, with perfect giving and great giving, performs supreme giving. For example, completely giving away hands, feet, ears, noses, flesh, bones, skin, eyes, tongues, skulls, and legs, etc. This is called the supreme giving of a Bodhisattva. When a Bodhisattva remembers that giving, great giving, and supreme giving, and thinks, "I too shall perfect these recollections," this is called remembering his giving. This is called the mindfulness of the Bodhisattva's recollection of giving. What is the mindfulness of the Bodhisattva's recollection of deities? It is when a Bodhisattva remembers those pure deities, the Hearers, Solitary Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Perfectly Complete Buddhas. Remembering them in this way: remembering them through their practice, qualities, birth and enjoyment, all observation, creation, attainment, and accomplishment, this is called the mindfulness of the recollection of deities. One also remembers other deities. Remembering them in this way: these deities have arisen from the fruit of virtuous actions. Those virtuous actions are like this: the ten paths of virtuous action, abstaining from non-virtuous actions. From this, those deities who possess color, enjoy much happiness, and have satisfied senses, all of these are the maturation of the ten paths of virtuous action, so one thinks.

Thereafter, the Bodhisattva rejoices in the happiness of the gods, and for the benefit of all sentient beings, dedicates it entirely to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. He also wishes that the happiness of the gods be for all sentient beings. Because he wishes this happiness to be for all sentient beings, he exerts great effort to fully accomplish the roots of virtue. He develops great compassion for sentient beings born in the evil realms. He thinks: I shall cause all sentient beings to be born in the heavenly realms. Those sentient beings who have become gods, I shall cause them to manifestly realize the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, and to fully awaken as Buddhas. He causes sentient beings to engage in the actions that will lead them to obtain the bliss of the Tathagata's quiescence after obtaining the bliss of the gods and not falling away, and after becoming happy. This is called the Bodhisattva's mindfulness of the gods, the mindfulness of dwelling near. Thus, noble son, these are the ten mindfulnesses of dwelling near of the Bodhisattvas. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Non-Action, at that time, spoke of that meaning in verses: Because apart from suffering, emptiness is not perceived, therefore, one does not see suffering as suffering, but one should see suffering as emptiness. Those who wish to see emptiness, should truly see suffering. The meaning of suffering is emptiness, that emptiness is unconditioned. Because suffering is not made, therefore, there is no maker of suffering. The maker who is free from suffering, has not arisen and will not arise. If suffering is real, and there is no obscuration at all, if suffering is not made, where does origination come from in this? Suffering has no coming, nor does it go anywhere, what causes the arising of attachment to it? If there is no suffering, where does it come from? If suffering is origination, and craving is said to be origination, if there is no craving, how does origination arise? Suffering has no coming, if there is no coming, what goes? Without coming and going, cessation is peace.
