Nor does one completely abandon it because of that, nor does one do perverse things to sentient beings. This is the truth of a Bodhisattva. If a Bodhisattva generates the mind of unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, and later abandons that mind and does perverse things to all sentient beings, this is the most despicable false speech of a Bodhisattva. Asked: How is it that after generating the mind of unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment, that mind is not completely abandoned later, nor does one do perverse things to all sentient beings? Answered: When a Bodhisattva knows the truth of suffering, and knows the truth of the origin, the truth of cessation, and the truth of the path, then he does not abandon that mind, nor does he do perverse things to all sentient beings. Why is that? Because a Bodhisattva who is endowed with complete knowledge of the truth does not turn back from the enlightenment of the Buddha. Asked: What is suffering? And how is it known? Answered: The ripening of agreeable and disagreeable aspects in the five aggregates of grasping is suffering. This is called suffering. When one knows that suffering is dependently arisen, empty, unmoving, without self and without what belongs to self, this is called knowing suffering. When one sees that suffering is merely arising, without substance, neither substance nor non-substance, without essence and without a lord, this is called knowing the origin. When one knows that suffering does not come from the previous extreme, nor does it move to the later extreme, nor does it remain in the present arising state, but is beginningless, naturally ceased, naturally empty, naturally secluded, this is called knowing cessation. Asked: Son of good family, what is the hidden meaning of what is called cessation? Answered: Son of good family, cessation is not something to be expressed in any way. Asked: Son of good family, if cessation is not something to be expressed in any way, then why is it called cessation? Answered: Son of good family, what is called cessation is without sudden obscuration, not truly existent, is completely imputed. When one does not discriminate about that which is not truly existent, that is

It is called 'Cessation.' When untrue pervasive thoughts cease, no dharma will be destroyed. Therefore, all dharmas are extremely ceased. Said: Son of good family, even the Bhagavan does not directly perceive the cessation of Bodhisattvas. If a Bodhisattva directly perceives cessation, then he will fall into the level of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. Based on what intention did the Bhagavan say that? Said: Son of good family, the so-called 'directly perceive' is an inexpressible, ostensibly seen false term. The Bhagavan also said that cessation is an inexpressible dharma. Any inexpressible dharma cannot be directly perceived. Therefore, the Bhagavan said that Bodhisattvas do not directly perceive or see cessation. Based on this intention, Bodhisattvas directly perceive cessation. Hearers directly perceive cessation with a discriminating mind that clings to the characteristics of dharmas. Abides. Completely knows. With what object and attention does one know in this way, see in this way, and ascertain in this way? This is called the knowledge of the path. Furthermore, son of good family, the so-called 'suffering' is the clinging to self. Whatever arises with its cause, which is the clinging to 'I,' is called origination. When one sees that arising dharma without separately ascertaining it, this is called the knowledge of cessation. Whatever is seen and sought in this way is called the knowledge of the path. Furthermore, son of good family, whatever is pride, that is suffering. Why is that? Son of good family, the Bhagavan said that the nature of pride is suffering. Pride is untrue in all ways. Therefore, the origination of pride is the origination of suffering. The absence of suffering is cessation. With what wisdom does one not become proud of pride? That is the path. Son of good family, even if I were to explain for an eon or more than an eon the teaching of the Bodhisattvas' realization of the truth, I would not be able to fathom its limit. When this teaching of the truth was proclaimed, six thousand Bodhisattvas fully cultivated the truth and will never regress.

are within its domain. Ten thousand daughters of the gods residing in space are purified of the dust of the Dharma eye and are immaculate with respect to all dharmas. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Wisdom Supreme Subduer said to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Unattached: "Son of good family, what is the mindfulness of a Bodhisattva? What is mindfulness? What is the place of mindfulness?" After he said this, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Unattached said to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Wisdom Supreme Subduer: "Son of good family, Bodhisattvas, with respect to all dharmas, knowing non-arising is mindfulness. Bodhisattvas have the aspiration of knowing non-arising, and their mindfulness is also completely purified by knowing non-arising, unmoving in all places, upright, unchanging, unfathomable and immeasurable, difficult for worldly people, Shravakas, and Pratyekabuddhas to know. The mindfulness of a Bodhisattva, by which he holds all that the Buddhas have spoken, that mindfulness is the direct perception of the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One. Such is the mindfulness of a Bodhisattva. The place of the mindfulness of a Bodhisattva is of ten kinds: mindfulness of the body, mindfulness of feelings, mindfulness of mind, mindfulness of dharmas, mindfulness of recollecting the Buddha, mindfulness of recollecting the Dharma, mindfulness of recollecting the Sangha, mindfulness of recollecting morality, mindfulness of recollecting generosity, and mindfulness of recollecting the gods. These are the ten mindfulnesses. Among them, what is the mindfulness of the body of the Bodhisattvas? Here, the Bodhisattva observes the body in this way: this body does not move from the former limit to the latter limit, does not abide in the former limit and the latter limit, and is unreal, arises from inversion, has no maker and no receiver, has no beginning and no end, and
