Having been completely purified by giving without stinginess, being disciplined, unchanging, truly restraining, being tranquil, meditation, samadhi, and entering into equipoise, possessing the power of self, Buddhas, and gods. He manifests miraculous powers, without any contrived manifestation, without obscurations, surpassing all the worlds, he benefits sentient beings, blessing them as they wish. He shows realms as they desire. The power of that Bodhisattva's miraculous abilities operates unhindered in all places. If a single sentient being needs to be tamed by the forms of all sentient beings, then before that single sentient being, he shows the forms of all sentient beings as if in a vessel. All those emanations also engage in different actions, foods, speech, and behaviors. If he wishes that the forms of all sentient beings become the form of a Buddha, then the forms of all sentient beings will become the form of a Buddha. If he wishes that the form of a Buddha become the forms of all sentient beings, then the form of a Buddha will become the forms of all sentient beings. If he wishes that a destructive eon become a formative eon, then the destructive eon will become a formative eon, and those sentient beings will also know it as a formative eon. If he wishes that a formative eon become a destructive eon, then the formative eon will become a destructive eon, and those sentient beings will also know it as a destructive eon. Destruction and formation do not become something else; they change according to his wish. Similarly, if he wishes that one eon become as short as a morning, then the sentient beings there will know that one eon is as short as a morning. If he wishes that a morning become as long as an eon, then it will become so, and the sentient beings there will know it as such. This is called the miraculous power arising from the Bodhisattva's wish. The manifested miraculous power is when, through the inconceivable power of merit and wisdom of the Bodhisattva, and through spontaneously accomplished power, all perfections are manifested and accomplished without effort. This is called the Bodhisattva's manifested miraculous power.

Thus it is said. Among these, the supernormal power arising from the non-contrivance of a Bodhisattva is that, without the Bodhisattva intending or clinging, it is naturally accomplished. According to the inclinations of those sentient beings, the Bodhisattva sees and knows them in different forms and behaviors. This is the supernormal power arising from the non-contrivance of a Bodhisattva. As many worlds as there are where sentient beings are tamed by the appearance of a Buddha, the Buddha is shown to appear in those worlds. From the Tushita heavenly abode, passing away, entering the womb, being born, renouncing the world, practicing austerities, going to the Bodhi tree, subduing the Maras, fully awakening to enlightenment, turning the wheel of Dharma, and showing the great complete Nirvana, thus causing sentient beings to fully mature. Thus, the realm of a Bodhisattva's supernormal power is immeasurable. This is known as the activity of a Bodhisattva's supernormal power. Among these, what is the Bodhisattva's knowledge of the exhaustion of defilements? These are the four defilements: the defilement of desire, the defilement of existence, the defilement of ignorance, and the defilement of views. The Bodhisattva has completely abandoned these defilements, becoming of the nature of non-arising in the future, neither arising nor ceasing again. As it is appropriate to tame, he also constantly shows birth to sentient beings. This is the path of a Bodhisattva, naturally accomplished, constantly and uninterruptedly practiced. These are the six superknowledges of a Bodhisattva. Among these, what are the three knowledges of a Bodhisattva? They are the divine eye knowledge, the knowledge of remembering past lives, and the knowledge of the exhaustion of defilements. Knowledge is called wisdom. Among these, the knowledge of the divine eye is the divine eye knowledge. What is the divine eye knowledge? It belongs to the supreme of pure gods. The Bodhisattva possesses that divine eye knowledge. The pure gods are the Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Bodhisattvas. These are the pure gods.

The most excellent of those pure gods are the Tathāgatas, the Arhats, the perfectly complete Buddhas. They are called the most excellent of the pure gods. A Bodhisattva obtains the divine eye knowledge of the most excellent of the pure gods, which is different from that of the Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas; this is the first knowledge. For the Tathāgata, there is nothing of the past that is not known, not seen, or not understood. A Bodhisattva obtains this knowledge, which is different from that of the Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas; this is the second knowledge. What is the knowledge of the exhaustion of defilements? There are four defilements. What are the four? The defilement of desire, the defilement of existence, the defilement of ignorance, and the defilement of views. A Bodhisattva realizes these defilements with the path of abandoning them together with their imprints, not like the Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas with the path of abandoning the obscurations of afflictions. Having exhausted the defilements, he takes birth in all places of birth without obstruction in order to fully ripen sentient beings; this is called the Bodhisattva's knowledge of the exhaustion of defilements. These are the three knowledges of a Bodhisattva. What are the eight liberations? Having form, one sees forms; this is the first liberation. Having no perception of form internally, one sees forms externally; this is the second liberation. The liberation of beauty; this is the third liberation. Completely transcending all perceptions of form, the perceptions of resistance cease, and not attending to the various perceptions, thinking "space is infinite," one dwells having perfected the sphere of infinite space; this is the fourth liberation. Completely transcending the sphere of infinite space, thinking "consciousness is infinite," one dwells having perfected the sphere of infinite consciousness; this is the fifth liberation. Completely transcending the sphere of infinite consciousness, thinking "there is nothing," one dwells having perfected the sphere of nothingness.
