arises. Similarly, the formations of the virtuous actions of well-performed virtuous deeds do not transform into the formations of existence. Through the cause of practicing the Dharma well, the power of the ripening of well-existing rebirth also arises. For example, due to the power of the great elements, a rainbow appears in the sky, but the great elements do not transfer there. Due to the cause of the great elements, the power of the ripening of the form of the rainbow also arises. Among them, what appears as gray is due to the power of the earth element. What appears as blue is due to the power of the water element. What appears as red is due to the power of the fire element. What is like the shape of a bow or round is due to the power of the wind element. Similarly, due to the power of the virtuous deeds of those who have performed virtuous actions, the power of the ripening of rebirth arises. For example, due to the cause of the discipline of the ten virtuous paths of a Chakravartin, the seven precious jewels and grains arise without sowing or plowing. However, the discipline of the ten virtuous paths that became the cause does not transfer to those jewels and grains. Due to the cause of the discipline of the ten virtuous paths, the power of a Chakravartin also arises. Similarly, although the virtuous ripening of rebirth arises from well-performed virtue, which is extremely complete and well-accomplished, the existence of karma does not transfer to rebirth. Therefore, it is called different ripening. For example, for gods who are highly virtuous, mandārava flowers do not need to be grown, palaces do not need to be built, and amrita food does not need to be prepared, but the ripening of the karma of virtuous actions does not transfer. Due to the cause of virtuous actions, the power of the ripening of gods arises. For example, due to the cause of great miraculous powers manifesting, unobstructed power arises, but the manifestation of miraculous powers does not transfer to unobstructedness, and

Due to the cause of manifesting magical abilities, the unobstructedness of those with magical abilities also appears, but it is not that mountains, etc., move, nor is it that unobstructedness appears merely through thought. Similarly, due to the cause of the virtuous deeds of the cautious manifesting, the power of ripening in future lives will arise. For example, just as fire arises due to the cause of wind, and if there is no wind, it will not arise. After fire arises, cooking and other things appear, and the power of ripening will arise, but the power of fire does not transfer to the wind and wood, nor does the fire itself possess the power of fire. Similarly, the ripening of good and non-good that arises from all causes should also be understood separately. For example, a yogi monk with a pure and inexhaustible collection of virtuous deeds, having obtained great power, can transform the sky merely through thought, and hardness, moisture, warmth, movement, as well as blue, yellow, red, and white can appear unobstructed, but the unobstructedness of the mind does not transfer to the unobstructedness of the sky, nor does it appear unobstructed merely through thought. The unobstructedness of the mind is not in accordance with hardness, etc., nor does it appear unobstructed. Similarly, one should understand the power of ripening of all good and non-good that arises from causes. Bodhisattvas, through these ten entrances to the Dharma, understand the power of ripening of virtuous deeds. Son of the lineage, Bodhisattvas, through the ten entrances to the Dharma, understand the power of obtaining the ripening of uncontaminated virtuous deeds. What are these ten? They are: the six superknowledges, the three knowledges, the eight liberations, the eight abodes of victory, the ten kasinas, the ten powers, the ten truths, the nine sequential abidings, the ten strengths, and the ten wisdoms. Among these, what are the six superknowledges? The divine eye, the divine ear, and the

The wisdom of recollection, the wisdom of remembering past abodes, the wisdom of miraculous deeds, and the wisdom of the exhaustion of defilements. These are the six superknowledges of the Bodhisattvas. What is the divine eye of the Bodhisattva? It is the accumulation of all virtuous qualities without decline, without attachment, immeasurable, without obscuration, without abiding, without flaw, without confusion, unteachable, without fault, not shared with all the world and the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, completely destroying all combinations of habitual tendencies, seeing clearly, prophesying clearly. With the divine eye, one sees beings, sees death and birth, sees beautiful colors and ugly colors, sees the inferior and the superior, sees how karma approaches, and sees the true reality of what has causes and what has results. That divine eye is the means to attain the wisdom of the Buddha, and that is certain. What is the divine ear of the Bodhisattva? That divine ear is without obscuration, accumulates all virtuous qualities, surpasses all ordinary beings, Indra, Brahma, the world protectors, gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, mahoragas, surpasses all Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, and with uninterrupted light, hears all sounds. It hears the sounds of gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, mahoragas, and even the sounds of bees, ants, flesh flies, and the sounds of noble and ignoble beings. Having heard, one does not become angry at the sounds of ignoble beings, nor does one become attached to the sounds of noble beings. One does not regard the sounds of ordinary beings as inferior, nor does one regard the sounds of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas as superior. One does not become angry at ignoble behavior, nor does one become attached to noble behavior. One does not regard any sound as a virtue or a fault. Otherwise, all sounds are like the echo of a rock, and are empty.
