The realm of the sky is limitless and boundless, with a nature that is unobstructed. All sentient beings live in dependence on it, yet it does not discriminate or change, and is not attached to anything. Similarly, a Bodhisattva who teaches the Dharma also has a nature that is limitless and boundless, and unobstructed in all ways. All sentient beings live in dependence on him, yet he does not discriminate or change, and is not attached to anything. For example, the moon always clearly appears to all sentient beings, protects the world, yet is not tainted by the laws of the world. Similarly, a Bodhisattva who teaches the Dharma also always clearly appears to all sentient beings, protects the world, yet is not tainted by the laws of the world. For example, when the sun rises, all darkness vanishes. Its light illuminates the world, and sentient beings each do their own work, but the sun does not discriminate, does not discriminate in any way, and does not seek even the slightest reward from anyone. Similarly, when a Bodhisattva who teaches the Dharma appears, the darkness of ignorance of all sentient beings vanishes. His light illuminates the world, and sentient beings each do their own roots of virtue, but the Dharma teacher does not discriminate, does not discriminate in any way, and does not seek even the slightest reward from anyone. For example, a boat that is strong, stable, and well-made will not be destroyed and can liberate sentient beings from a great river, and will not seek even the slightest boat fee from anyone. Similarly, a Bodhisattva who teaches the Dharma also has stable wisdom, solid perfections, and a Dharma nature well-made with great compassion, and can liberate sentient beings from the great river of samsara, will not be destroyed, and will not seek even the slightest boat fee from anyone. For example, bridges and platforms are established over swift and dangerous rivers so that lower, middle, and higher beings can equally cross comfortably, and they have no grasping at self or mine towards anything. Similarly, a Bodhisattva who teaches the Dharma is like a platform and a great bridge over the difficult to cross, unbearable, untamed, and downward-flowing river of samsara, for lower and middle beings...

He abides in order to equally benefit beings of lower, middle, and higher status, and he has no self-grasping or grasping at what is mine towards anything. For example, a lamp in the darkness equally illuminates beings of lower, middle, and higher status, and it has no self-grasping or grasping at what is mine towards anything. Similarly, a Bodhisattva who speaks the Dharma, having lit the lamp of wisdom in the house of the darkness of ignorance and samsara, equally illuminates beings of lower, middle, and higher status, but he has no self-grasping or grasping at what is mine towards anything. A Bodhisattva should understand the speaker of the Dharma through these ten ways of entering the Dharma that correspond to examples. Son of good family, one should understand the non-association of Bodhisattvas through ten ways of entering the Dharma. What are these ten? They are: not associating with inferior beings who are minded towards inferiority and aspire to inferiority; not associating with beings who are not diligent, not striving, lazy, and without diligence; not associating with beings filled with pride, great pride, surpassing pride, the pride of 'I am,' the pride of 'I am a little,' manifest pride, wrong pride, and filled with pride; not associating with beings who are miserly, of immoral conduct, with harmful minds, lazy, distracted, and of the nature of perverse wisdom; not associating with thoughts of desire, harmful minds, and harming thoughts; not associating with all thoughts, various thoughts, and all conceptualizations; not associating with all obscurations, severances, and all entanglements; not associating with all the mental activities of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas; not associating with all mental activities that rejoice in gain, respect, and praise; and not associating with those who grasp at self and those who grasp at what is mine. These ten ways of entering the Dharma are the non-association of Bodhisattvas.

It should be understood. Son of lineage, furthermore, Bodhisattvas do not associate with ten abandonments. What are the ten? Namely: They do not associate with abandoning the complete upholding of the sacred Dharma; they do not associate with abandoning listening to the sacred Dharma; they do not associate with abandoning the maturation of sentient beings; they do not associate with abandoning the giving of the sacred Dharma; they do not associate with abandoning the service to all the gurus; they do not associate with abandoning the works of demons; they do not associate with abandoning the disturbance of heretics; they do not associate with abandoning the complete destruction of the sacred Dharma; they do not associate with abandoning the Paramitas; they do not associate with abandoning the dedication of the three aggregates. Bodhisattvas do not associate with these ten abandonments. The ten great transformations of the Bodhisattvas should be understood. What are the ten? Namely: Transforming into a Universal Monarch, transforming into Indra, transforming into Brahma, transforming into a Hearer, transforming into a Pratyekabuddha, transforming into a Bodhisattva, transforming into a Buddha, transforming into a Buddha-field, transforming into the essence of Bodhi, and transforming into a great retinue. These ten should be understood as the great transformations of the Bodhisattvas. All these great transformations of the Bodhisattvas should be regarded as originating from the thoughts of others. Therein, when the world is led by a Universal Monarch who upholds the precepts correctly and whose conduct is paramount, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva emanates the array of a Universal Monarch and benefits sentient beings. Therein, the precious wheel has a thousand spokes, far surpassing the deeds of gods and humans, made of Jambudvipa gold, unhammered by craftsmen, born from the power of one's own aspirations and the miraculous power of merit, and has a form that never tires the eye.
