went. With each step, one could cross countless Buddhafields, as many as the grains of sand in fifty Ganges Rivers, multiplied by atoms of dust, hundreds of thousands of kotis. In a certain Buddhafield, one great Shravaka disciple walks, and a second will not go there. In this way, one can travel for countless eons through Buddhafields as numerous as the grains of sand in fifty Ganges Rivers, multiplied by atoms of dust, hundreds of thousands of kotis. Just as in the east, so too in the south, west, north, and likewise in the southeast, southwest, northwest, and northeast directions, one goes. Where one great Shravaka disciple has gone, a second will not go. Then, someone makes all these Buddhafields into one city, surrounded by walls reaching the peak of existence, as flat as the palm of a hand, without stones, tiles, or gravel, filled with sand, piled high. Then, that person takes out sand grains one by one from that sand city, and scatters them like rain, as many as there are sand grains in that city. Using this method of counting, all those sand grains are scattered like rain. Then, that person takes all the scattered sand grains to the east, crosses as many Buddhafields as there are scattered sand grains, and drops one scattered sand grain. Using this method of calculation, all the scattered sand grains are discarded. Just as in the east, so too in the south, west, north, and likewise in the southeast, southwest, northwest, and northeast directions, they are discarded. Then, that person makes all the Buddhafields where the scattered sand grains were dropped, and the Buddhafields where no sand grains were dropped, all into one city, surrounded by walls reaching the peak of existence.

After circling around, it became as flat as the palm of a hand, without stones, gravel, or shells, filled with sand and piled up. Those of my Bodhisattvas who have gathered in this assembly are only like a single grain of sand from that city of sand. Those of my Bodhisattvas who have not gathered here are like the remaining sand in that city. If all those Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas, as many as the remaining sand, are of the same name and the same lineage, what need is there to mention those of different names and different lineages? Those Bodhisattvas have also attained the Samadhi of Heroic Progress, have obtained the Dharani for accomplishing the immeasurable colors of the Buddha's body, show the emergence of Buddhas in many completely pure world realms, completely purify afflictions from all world realms, and are endowed with the supreme qualities of completely maturing an inconceivable realm of sentient beings. Then, those Bodhisattva assemblies thought to themselves: 'How wonderful it would be if we could see some of those Bodhisattvas who are the supreme leaders in completely maturing sentient beings!' Then, the Bhagavan, in order to gather those Bodhisattvas into that assembly and to show them the supreme leaders in completely maturing sentient beings, made the sound of snapping his fingers.
