The so-called "knower" is a term in the sense of liberation. All Tathagatas are permanent, steadfast, peaceful, and stable, which is a term for the sacred Dharma that will not decline. Question: With what intention does the Blessed One say that one should generate the perception of "it is so," "permanent," "self," and "sentient being" like a child? Answer: Great Cloud Essence, do not entangle yourself like a silkworm on silk. The nature of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who abides in this Samadhi is such. Question: Blessed One, you have done so much, what should I do by saying so like a mute and a blind person? While understanding the nature of selflessness, why do you allow the perception of "permanent," "self," and "sentient being" to arise, which is inconsistent with the straight path? The Blessed One said: Monks, liberation is the nature of space, and that is also without nature. There is also no way to establish it. All Tathagatas, Arhats, perfectly enlightened Buddhas are also the same, equal to space. The Tathagatas, even hundreds of thousands of billions, are like the moon in the water. Like illusion. Without substance. Impermanent. Having the nature of a dream. Like the trunk of a water tree, without essence. Unstable like lightning and clouds. All dharmas are empty and without characteristics. The many actions of dharmas are of the nature of the traces of the wind in the sky. The Blessed One also said this. Furthermore, all sentient beings in the world truly gather in inconceivable dharmas. The Blessed One also said this. Since the Blessed One has understood the nature of impermanence, how can he allow the perception of "permanent," "self," and "sentient being" to arise? How should one cultivate the practice of permanence? How should one learn this practice? The Blessed One also said: Monks, all Buddhas have strived very hard, and even searching within the category of all conditioned dharmas, they have not found the perception of "self," that is, without self, without life, without person.

Without teaching, he said: If it is said that all these beings are truly empty, then what is the meaning of permanence, self, and the thought of sentient beings? The Blessed One taught: Great Cloud Heart, where are you running? Where are you drifting? From now on, do not say such things. A Bodhisattva who abides in this Samadhi is not afraid because all dharmas are inconsistent, nor does he extensively guard the precepts or cultivate the mind because all dharmas are not inconsistent. Because all dharmas are not inconsistent, he is very happy and does not slacken from undertaking the deeds of a Bodhisattva. Nor is he afraid because all dharmas are cut off, nor does he guard the precepts or cultivate the mind because all dharmas are not cut off. Because all dharmas are not cut off, he is very happy and does not slacken from undertaking the deeds of a Bodhisattva. Similarly, permanence and impermanence should also be combined as before. Self-importance and non-self-importance, wavering and non-wavering, manifestation and non-manifestation, solitude and non-solitude, having an object and not having an object, discipline and immoral discipline, knowledge and ignorance, name and no name, grasping and non-grasping, fear and fearlessness, characteristics and no characteristics, death and deathlessness, enlightenment and non-enlightenment should also be combined as before. Do not be afraid that all dharmas have passed into Nirvana, do not panic, nor guard the precepts or cultivate the mind because all dharmas have not completely passed into Nirvana. Because all dharmas have not completely passed into Nirvana, he is very happy and does not slacken from undertaking the deeds of a Bodhisattva. Why need I say more? A Bodhisattva who abides in this Samadhi, in order to ensure that all sentient beings have not completely passed into Nirvana, and that the Tathagata's dharmas of permanence, steadfastness, stability, and peace do not disappear, diligently abides, guards the precepts, and cultivates the mind. Great Cloud Heart!

Furthermore, if one wishes to quickly abide in this samadhi, one should cultivate the perception of self. One should cultivate the perception of person. One should cultivate the perception of life. A Bodhisattva who cultivates in this way will quickly attain this samadhi. Question: World Honored One, with what intention did the Thus-Gone One, knowing, speak in this way? The Buddha said: Great Cloud Heart, a Bodhisattva abiding in this samadhi cultivates the perception of self in the worldly sense. Question: World Honored One, is there also a name for self in the Dharma that transcends the world? The Buddha said: A Bodhisattva abiding in this samadhi, if wishing to reveal the perception of permanence and self, and the perception that transcends the world, should properly reveal it with five aspects. What are the five? Like a seed of grain, like a seed of a tree, like the essence of oil, like the appearance of a jewel, like the old skin of a snake. Thus, for example, grains such as rice, from the fruit until it becomes grain, are regarded and counted as impermanent dharmas. They also do not serve the purpose of sentient beings. Having become a nature without chaff, they then serve the purpose of sentient beings and are counted as a category of stable dharma of seeds. Likewise, all dharmas act discordantly, and until this samadhi is attained, they are regarded and counted as impermanent dharmas. They also cannot become a refuge for sentient beings. Having become a nature free from all the chaff of afflictions of views, doubts, the perception of nirvana, impermanence, and unstable nature, from then on, they cut off all doubts of sentient beings and become a refuge, and also become seeds of permanent, enduring, stable, and peaceful nature, and can also be established in the perception of sentient beings. Thus, all dharmas are like seeds of grain. Great Cloud Heart, furthermore, for example, a palm tree
