Everything is incurable and without remedy, without a person, without a doer, without a feeler, without a knower and seer, without accumulation, that is, without Isvara, and completely imputed from what is not truly empty, and arising from conditions, this is called reason. This is in accordance with the nature of things. Son of good family, whatever is in accordance with the nature of things is reason. Whatever does not contradict the nature of things is reason. Whatever does not err from the nature of things is reason. Whatever tends towards the nature of things is reason. Whatever shows the nature of things is reason. Furthermore, because of confidence in those, therefore they are called those who have confidence in reason. Son of good family, bodhisattvas who possess these ten qualities are those who have confidence in reason. Son of good family, bodhisattvas who possess ten qualities are those who have confidence in liberation. What are the ten? They are, for example, those who have unobstructed confidence. They are those who have continuous confidence. They are those who have inexhaustible confidence. They are those who have unyielding confidence. They are those who have unshrinking confidence. They are those who have unfearful confidence. They are those who have confidence that is not common. They are those who have unsuppressed confidence. They are those who have infinite confidence. They are those who have confidence in obtaining individual correct knowledge. Son of good family, bodhisattvas who possess these ten qualities are those who have confidence in liberation. Son of good family, bodhisattvas who possess ten qualities are those who have confidence in complete purity. What are the ten? They are, for example, those who have unwavering confidence. They are those who have unconfused confidence. They are those who have unyielding confidence. They are those who have unvacillating confidence. Their confidence is not devoid of meaning. It is not devoid of words. It is not devoid of combination. It is not devoid of timing. It is not harsh. It is not an unclear confidence. Son of good family, the confidence of the bodhisattvas is not wavering. Why is that? Because it is free from the fear of the retinue's fright. The confidence of the bodhisattvas is not confused. Why is that? Because the mind is steadfast and unchanging. Bodhisattvas

The fearlessness of the brave is not inferior. Why is that? Because there is no fear. Son of the lineage, when a Bodhisattva enters the retinue, he is not afraid, he does not fear, like a lion, he is fearless, he does not fear, he is not alarmed. The Bodhisattvas' fearlessness is not wavering. Why is that? Because it is free from afflictions. Son of the lineage, the fearlessness that is accompanied by afflictions is wavering, but that which is without afflictions is not. The Bodhisattvas' fearlessness is not separated from meaning. Why is that? Because they have attained the nature of reality. Son of the lineage, the fearlessness of those who have not attained the nature of reality is separated from meaning, but that of those who have attained the nature of reality is not. The Bodhisattvas' fearlessness is not separated from words and phrases. Why is that? Because there is no fear of all treatises. Son of the lineage, the fearlessness of those who know some aspects of the treatises is separated from words and phrases, but that of those who have no fear of all treatises is not. The Bodhisattvas' fearlessness is not separated from practice. Why is that? Because all practices have been perfectly accomplished. Son of the lineage, the fearlessness of those who are not skilled in practice is separated from practice, but that of those who possess infinite practice is not. The Bodhisattvas' fearlessness is not separated from time, like saying what should be said later first, or saying what should be said first later. Why is that? Because Bodhisattvas know the time, know the measure, and know the occasion. The Bodhisattvas' fearlessness is not harsh, unpleasant, or disagreeable. Why is that? Because it is free from the misdeeds of speech. Son of the lineage, the fearlessness of those who possess misdeeds is harsh, but that of those who are free from misdeeds is not. The Bodhisattvas' fearlessness is not unclear. Why is that? Because the faculties are sharp. Son of the lineage, the fearlessness of those whose faculties are dull is unclear.
