Then, the great ocean swallows all immeasurable rivers, yet it does not appear to decrease or increase. Similarly, a Bodhisattva also swallows all immeasurable rivers of Dharma, yet it does not appear to decrease or increase. Noble son, just as the great ocean does not miss its season. Similarly, a Bodhisattva does not miss the season for taming those to be tamed, causing sentient beings to ripen. Noble son, just as the great ocean is the abode of many beings. Similarly, a Bodhisattva is the abode of all sentient beings and all white dharmas. Noble son, just as the great ocean cannot be exhausted even if all sentient beings draw water from it. Similarly, a Bodhisattva's teaching of Dharma to all sentient beings is inexhaustible. Noble son, thus, from becoming a source of jewels to being inexhaustible, a Bodhisattva is like this. Noble son, possessing these ten dharmas, Bodhisattvas are those whose wisdom is like the ocean. Noble son, possessing ten dharmas, Bodhisattvas are those whose wisdom is subtle. What are these ten? They are as follows: They are those who are skilled in seeking origins. They are those who are skilled in examining all dharmas. They are those who comprehend the equality of all dharmas. They are those who comprehend the illusory nature of all dharmas. They are those who are skilled in completely understanding all dharmas. They are those who are skilled in understanding the profound and immeasurable dependent origination. They are those who are skilled in understanding inconceivable karma. They are those who understand the meaning of what is spoken. They are those who realize the true meaning as it is. They are those who are skilled in that very thing. Noble son, how does a Bodhisattva go from being skilled in seeking origins to being skilled in that very thing? To this, a Bodhisattva contemplates thus: Alas! The state of this world is such that it is completely ablaze with the fire of desire! Utterly ablaze! Completely and utterly spreading and blazing! Alas! The state of this world is such that it is enveloped in the thick smoke of hatred, obscured by swirling smoke, and completely bewildered! Alas! The state of this world is such that it is

It is like (observing in this way), thinking that it is enveloped in the darkness of ignorance. Therefore, one thinks, how will these sentient beings arise? Then one completely seeks their arising and contemplates all dharmas. By contemplating all dharmas, one will comprehend the equality of all dharmas. By comprehending the equality of all dharmas, one will thoroughly understand that all dharmas are like illusions, just as they are in reality. By understanding that all dharmas are like illusions, just as they are in reality, one will thoroughly understand all dharmas as they are in reality. By completely understanding all dharmas as they are in reality, one will contemplate the profound dependent origination. Because he contemplates the profound dependent origination, he will contemplate the inconceivable karma, and he thinks like this: It is wonderful that various karmas appear in the dharmas without substance! In this way, because he possesses subtle wisdom, he understands the meaning merely by hearing what the Buddhas or Bodhisattvas have said. Because he understands the meaning, he thoroughly comprehends the meaning as it is in reality. Because he thoroughly comprehends the meaning as it is in reality, he sees the suchness. Because he sees the suchness, he liberates sentient beings from the prison of samsara. Son of the lineage, therefore, a Bodhisattva is from being skilled in seeking arising to being skilled in seeing the suchness. Son of the lineage, a Bodhisattva who possesses these ten dharmas is one who possesses subtle wisdom. Son of the lineage, a Bodhisattva who possesses these ten dharmas is one who possesses intellectual fearlessness. What are the ten? It is like this: Establish all dharmas as without self. Establish all dharmas as without sentient beings, without life, without nourishment, without person, without doer and receiver, without knower and seer, without accumulation, that is, without autonomy, completely imputed from non-real emptiness, and arising from conditions. Son of the lineage, this is called all dharmas without self, this is reason. This is in accordance with the nature of dharma. It is called all dharmas without sentient beings, without life, this is reason. This is in accordance with the nature of dharma. Similarly, dharma
