Migs. That which is learned is also not apprehended. One also does not fall into viewing that as the cause of that, the condition of that, the basis of that as ceasing. Thus, a Bodhisattva is skilled in the Great Vehicle. How is a Bodhisattva skilled in abandoning the works of Mara? Here, a Bodhisattva completely abandons all unwholesome friends in all places, dwells in places of disbelief, relies on and meditates on the secret words of worldly deception, and completely abandons all excessive attachment to gain, respect, offerings, and service in all places. Whatever other near afflictions become obstacles to the path of enlightenment, those too are completely abandoned in all places, and one also relies on their antidotes. Thus, a Bodhisattva is skilled in completely abandoning the works of Mara. How does a Bodhisattva possess non-retrogressive wisdom? Here, a Bodhisattva bestows wisdom on all worldly treatises, secret words, actions, and crafts. That is also for the sake of completely maturing all sentient beings, not for the sake of desiring the benefit of knowledge, desiring fame, gain, or respect, but for the sake of proclaiming the greatness of the Tathagata's teachings, not for the sake of viewing that as a virtue. Otherwise, one thinks thus: This scripture is excellent, thus it is the Vinaya of the Tathagata, thinking thus, one does not become a follower of other heretical views by viewing that as a virtue. Thus, a Bodhisattva possesses non-retrogressive wisdom. Son of good family, how does a Bodhisattva possess unequaled wisdom? Son of good family, here, a Bodhisattva, in the world with gods, with Maras, with Brahmas, with ascetics and Brahmins of beings, with gods, humans, and non-humans, except for the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha, there is no sentient being in the category of sentient beings who has wisdom equal to that. That is the world with gods, with Maras, with Brahmas, with ascetics and Brahmins of beings, with gods, humans, and non-humans.

Among these, one is overwhelmed by the distinction of wisdom. Thus, the Bodhisattva is one with unparalleled wisdom. Son of the lineage, if one possesses these ten dharmas, then the Bodhisattva is one who is perfectly endowed with wisdom. Son of the lineage, if one possesses ten dharmas, then the Bodhisattva is one who is skillful in means. What are the ten? They are as follows: Skillful in dedicating. Skillful in refuting non-Buddhists. Skillful in refuting objects. Skillful in eliminating remorse. Skillful in being a friend to sentient beings. Skillful in closely associating with the means of livelihood for sentient beings. Skillful in taking. Skillful in begging from place to place. Skillful in causing correct adherence, praising, and making them very happy. Skillful in making offerings and showing reverence to the Thus-Gone One. Son of the lineage, how is a Bodhisattva skillful in dedicating? Son of the lineage, here, whatever Bodhisattva does not have the notion of "mine" or complete grasping of the form of flowers or the form of fruits, those are offered to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas three times during the day and three times during the night. That root of virtue is also dedicated to the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Whatever those incense woods, or fragrant woods, or precious woods, or wish-fulfilling trees, or flower trees, or fruit trees, without the notion of "mine" and without complete grasping, those are also offered to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas three times during the day and three times during the night. That root of virtue is also dedicated to the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Whatever offerings and reverence are made to the sutras, listening to those vast and extensive practices, all of those are dedicated from the depths of the heart with supreme intention to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Whatever Bodhisattvas in the ten directions and sentient beings who are not Bodhisattvas perform virtuous deeds and perfect the accumulations of enlightenment.

For those, I rejoice from the bottom of my heart, and I dedicate that root of virtue entirely to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. If one offers flowers, incense, or perfume to a stupa of the Thus-Gone One or to an image of the Thus-Gone One, may it eliminate the foul odor of all sentient beings' bad habits, and may they obtain the fragrance of the Thus-Gone One's discipline. If one wipes with a duster and a cloth, may all sentient beings' conduct become without ugliness, and may they be fully endowed with beautiful conduct. If one offers a flower umbrella, may it be dedicated to eliminating the suffering of all sentient beings' afflictions and near afflictions. If one enters a temple, one should generate the thought: "I will place all sentient beings in the city of Nirvana." If one exits, one should generate the thought: "I will liberate all sentient beings from the prison of samsara." If one opens the door of a dwelling, one should generate the thought: "With transcendent wisdom, I will open the door to all happy migrations." If one closes the door, one should generate the thought: "I will close all the doors to the bad migrations." If one sits down, one should generate the thought: "I will seat all sentient beings at the heart of enlightenment." If one lies down on the right side, one should generate the thought: "I will completely pacify all sentient beings with the Nirvana of the Buddha." If one rises from there, one should generate the thought: "I will awaken all sentient beings from the arising of afflictions." If one walks for the sake of the body, one should generate the thought: "May all sentient beings walk with the gait of a great being." If one stays there, one should generate the thought: "I will extract the thorns of all sentient beings' desire, hatred, and ignorance." If one washes, one should generate the thought: "I will wash away the faults of the stains of all sentient beings' afflictions." If one washes one's hands, one should generate the thought: "I will eliminate the foul odor of all sentient beings' afflictions." If one washes one's feet, one should generate the thought: "I will wash away the dust of all sentient beings' afflictions."
