It is like this, above, one should also seek all the dharmas that make the accumulation of bodhi complete. Son of good family, bodhisattvas who possess these ten dharmas are those with perfect meditative concentration. Son of good family, bodhisattvas who possess ten dharmas are those with perfect wisdom. What are the ten? They are: those who are skilled in selflessness, those who are skilled in the ripening of karma, those who are skilled in conditioned phenomena, those who are skilled in the continuity of samsara, those who are skilled in the cessation of samsara, those who are skilled in the vehicle of hearers and solitary realizers, those who are skilled in the Great Vehicle, those who are skilled in completely abandoning the works of Mara, those who possess non-perverted wisdom, and those who possess unequaled wisdom. Son of good family, how does a bodhisattva become skilled in selflessness? Son of good family, here, a bodhisattva contemplates form with correct wisdom, contemplates feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness. When he contemplates form, he does not see the arising of form, he does not see the origin, he does not see the cessation. Similarly, he does not see the arising of feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness, he does not see the origin, he does not see the cessation. This is the ultimate truth, not the nature of conventional truth. He does not see what the nature of ultimate truth is, and what the nature of conventional truth is; both of these natures are not the nature of expression. Therefore, one should not abandon diligence, but like a fire burning on one's head, one should strive and exert oneself for the benefit of sentient beings, and initiate diligence. Son of good family, in this way, a bodhisattva is skilled in selflessness. How does a bodhisattva become skilled in the ripening of karma? Here, a bodhisattva contemplates in this way: this abiding of the world is like the colors of a magician, like a city of gandharvas, empty by nature. These sentient beings, although not sentient beings, are manifestly attached to the notion of self, and therefore they do not attain the path. They think thus: if I...

or sentient beings, or life, or the one who is born, or the one who nourishes, or the person, or the individual, or born from power, if there is no power, then the ripening of good and bad karma will also be absent, so one might think, but even if there are no sentient beings, the ripening of karma will still manifest, so one might think. In this regard, how does the Bodhisattva, even though there are no sentient beings, and how does the ripening of good and bad karma manifest, fully understand that with correct wisdom, just as it is? In this way, the Bodhisattva is skilled in the ripening of karma. How is the Bodhisattva skilled in conditioned phenomena? Here, the Bodhisattva contemplates the phenomena of conditioned things with correct wisdom, and thinks to himself: These conditioned phenomena are impermanent, moving, like dewdrops, like a mountain stream. Then, what wise person would cling to and be attached to such phenomena? Or grieve because they have disappeared? Thinking this, he becomes disgusted because of that cause, that condition, that place, and separates from desire, and places his mind on cessation. In this way, the Bodhisattva is skilled in conditioned phenomena. How is the Bodhisattva skilled in the continuity of samsara? Here, the Bodhisattva contemplates in this way: Alas, the beings of this world are blinded by ignorance, tending towards samsara, bound by the ropes of existence, constantly taking and grasping. Because of the cause of grasping, good and bad karma manifest, and because they possess the manifestation of good and bad karma, they will also be connected in existence, and because of that cause, they will be born. Because there is birth, there will be aging. Those who possess the nature of aging will die. From death arises sorrow, lamentation, suffering, displeasure, and confusion, becoming continuous. In this way, that single, great mass of suffering, like a water bucket wheel, becomes the continuity of the wheel of samsara, so one might think. The Bodhisattva also fully understands that with correct wisdom, just as it is.

If a Bodhisattva is skilled in the continuation of samsara. How does a Bodhisattva become skilled in the cessation of samsara? Here, a Bodhisattva contemplates in this way: When ignorance ceases, there is no longer attachment to formations. When there is no longer attachment to formations, there is no longer attachment to consciousness. When consciousness ceases, name and form, the six sense sources, contact, feeling, and craving no longer exist. When craving ceases, grasping does not arise. When grasping ceases, existence no longer continues. When existence no longer continues, birth no longer occurs. When birth ceases, old age and death, sorrow, lamentation, suffering, distress, and agitation are all cut off. This is how a Bodhisattva fully understands with correct wisdom as it is. In this way, a Bodhisattva is skilled in the cessation of samsara. How does a Bodhisattva become skilled in the vehicle of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas? Here, a Bodhisattva contemplates in this way: This Dharma will lead to entering the stream. This will lead to returning once. This will lead to non-returning. This will lead to becoming an Arhat, with defilements exhausted, the bonds of existence cut off, no further continuation, and rightly inclined towards Nirvana. This Dharma will lead to practicing alone like a rhinoceros Solitary Buddha. The Bodhisattva fully understands all of this with correct wisdom, but does not manifest these Dharmas. Why is that? Because he thinks like this: I have taken on the realm of sentient beings. I have roared the lion's roar. I have vowed to liberate all sentient beings dwelling in the wilderness of samsara, and it is not my place to emerge alone from the wilderness of samsara. In this way, a Bodhisattva is skilled in the vehicle of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. How does a Bodhisattva become skilled in the Great Vehicle? Here, a Bodhisattva studies all the trainings, but does not fixate on the learning, nor does he fixate on the path of learning.
