Shariputra, there are three types of people who will not like or be pleased with such words. Which three? They are: those who break precepts, those with excessive pride, and those who teach impure Dharma. Because in any case, they will be particularly attached to the notion of self. Shariputra, those foolish individuals, upon hearing such conforming Dharma, will become even more completely degenerate and will completely fall into a state of blindness. Shariputra, therefore, this sutra should be repeatedly entrusted. Why? Shariputra, because this sutra, after the Tathagata's complete Nirvana, will cause the monks who uphold the precepts to be joyful and content. Shariputra, this sutra will be embraced by those who uphold the precepts and abandoned by those who break them. Why? Shariputra, because when the truth is spoken as it is, fools will suffer. Shariputra, the Tathagata has spoken in the sutra about which limbs, which forms, which signs, and which characteristics will cause one to be a breaker of precepts. A breaker of precepts will not like talk of precepts, one who is not in samadhi will not like talk of samadhi, a miser will not like talk of generosity, and one with excessive pride, upon hearing the Buddha's words of non-pride, will feel like falling into a great abyss and will experience great fear. One who is attached to wealth and food will feel great displeasure when hearing praise for reducing possessions. Furthermore, if this true teaching of the Buddha is taught to those who are deeply involved in the speech of non-Buddhists, who are devoted to worldly gossip, who like to talk idly, who are fond of gatherings, and who are fond of various talks, they will not believe and will not regard the Dharma as supreme. Shariputra, for example, a eunuch who is born without male faculties, towards those who have male faculties

Knowing that, one will also generate the awareness that all these are of such nature and such characteristics. Shariputra, similarly, what causes a monk to mix with worldly outsiders is that he diligently pursues the words and letters of outsiders. Therefore, he does not respect or cherish this true teaching of the Tathagata. If there are monks who say that the Tathagata's teachings have no pure aim, they also do not respect or cherish them, and they will also despise monks who are endowed with discipline. Why is that? Because they follow worldly outsiders, follow the teachings of naked ascetics, and they are especially arrogant and raise their own status. Why is that? In any case, they are not diligent for the sake of renunciation, not for detachment, not for cessation, not for peace, not for true realization, not for asceticism, not for Nirvana. Just as one born with impaired faculties is a eunuch to all, so too will he generate the awareness that all are impaired in their faculties. Shariputra, for example, a blind person does not see black and white, does not see beautiful and ugly colors, does not see blue and yellow and red, and does not see long and short. In front of his eyes, fine or coarse, long or short, blue or yellow or red or white colors do not appear at all, and he thinks that blue and yellow and red and white colors do not exist. Long and short and fine and coarse do not exist either. There is no one who truly sees blue and yellow and red and white and long and short and fine and coarse colors. There is no sun and moon. There is no one who truly sees or shows the sun and moon. Just as I see perversely, so it is with everything else.
