Thus I speak of desire for pleasure, accomplishment, and happiness. Shariputra, listen to my words and learn with diligence. You should seek and become accustomed to what is virtuous. Shariputra, these five cause displeasure to a bhikkhu who teaches impure Dharma. What are the five? Not fully understanding all the Buddha's teachings, lacking the instructions of the Sutras, particularly delighting in contentious speech, criticizing Sutras with Sutras due to lack of faith in the Dharmas, and teaching the Dharma while prioritizing gain and respect. Shariputra, these five cause displeasure to bhikkhus who teach impure Dharma. Shariputra, I say that such a speaker of Dharma is creating the cause for bad rebirths and not creating the cause for Nirvana. Shariputra, furthermore, some bhikkhus disguise non-Dharma speech as Dharma speech, enter the Sangha, sit on the seat cushion given by faith, and extensively proclaim the words of those skilled in worldly arts, distort the Buddha's teachings, distort the view of the individual, and abandon the characteristic of selflessness because they do not understand the categories of the Buddha's teachings.\ When those virtuous bhikkhus urge them to conform to the Sutras, they fall into hesitation, saying, 'Do not speak to me,' thereby criticizing Sutras with Sutras, refuting Sutras with Sutras, and not learning accordingly. They slightly distort the Sutras and teach the Dharma of the superior side.\ They teach the Dharma out of desire for relatives. They teach the Dharma while prioritizing material possessions. They teach the Dharma in order to suppress others. Shariputra, if that bhikkhu who sits on the seat cushion given by faith extensively proclaims the words of those skilled in worldly arts, he should be driven from that seat cushion. Why is that? Shariputra, because he should not sit on the seat cushion of the noble ones given by faith and speak the words of naked ascetics. If he cannot be made to rise, then he should not protect following the speech that proclaims what is unreasonable.

It is so. Shariputra, if it is taught in that way, one should listen to the Dharma with dependence. Shariputra, I say that speaking of the Dharma in this way is not the essence of a Shramana, but the essence of a naked ascetic. After their bodies are destroyed and they die, they will go to the place of non-saints and naked ascetics. Shariputra, what is the destination of the naked ascetics? It is the destination of those with wrong views. Then what is the destination of those with wrong views? It is the hell of sentient beings, the place of animals, and the world of Yama. Why is that? Shariputra, because one is not skilled and has not learned, yet teaches the Dharma to others, seeks the lion throne without realizing it with the body, and falls into desire and seeks the lion throne, that is why it will be like that. Shariputra, in this way, with various words, attachments, views, wisdom, and thoughts, this teaching will decline, and the Thus-Gone One knows this reason. Shariputra, those foolish beings, when they hear the profound Sutras spoken by the Thus-Gone One, which are without object, the ultimate meaning of the Buddha's Bodhi, which is emptiness, will be greatly frightened and will fall into a great abyss. Shariputra, for example, in the past, in a bygone era, five hundred blind people without eyes wanted to travel a long road, approached a village, and because of hunger and thirst, they dug a pit in that village, leaving one blind person to guard the pit, and the rest went to beg. Shariputra, not long after those blind people left the pit, a liar went to the blind person guarding the pit and said to the blind person guarding the pit: What are you doing alone here? The blind person said: I am not alone, there are others. The liar said: Friend, in a certain direction, there is food for those who seek food, and drink for those who seek drink, there is much giving, but those who do not go will not receive.
