Furthermore, the seventh fault of a bhikkhu with broken precepts, who has broken his precepts, is that he has entered for the purpose of completely entering the lower realms. Shariputra, moreover, a bhikkhu with broken precepts is fond of joking talk, especially fond of joking talk, and is jealous. He has a retinue of those with broken precepts. He relies on those with broken precepts and does not like to hear talk of precepts. He does not conform to such profound sutras as these. He does not conform to speaking of such sutras as these, and argues, does not especially like cushions, looks in all directions, covers his face with his hands, looks at the sky, gets up from his cushion and walks away, reviles the words of the Thus-Gone One, and becomes angry with those who speak the Dharma. Because he possesses this non-virtue, he goes to the lower realms by acting wrongly with his body, speech, and mind. Shariputra, this is also the eighth fault of a bhikkhu with broken precepts, who has broken his precepts, that he has entered for the purpose of completely entering the lower realms. Shariputra, moreover, a bhikkhu with broken precepts makes a teacher primarily by proclaiming qualities. He makes an abbot primarily by praising fame, sound, and verses. He completely accomplishes his livelihood by completely proclaiming the name of having precepts, is greedy, and greatly desires to have a retinue. For example, like a crow, he completely accomplishes his own Dharma robes, alms, dwelling, medicine for sickness, and implements in the name of the Sangha. He is diligent in possessing power and bodily charm. He is without shame and scruples. He speaks coarse words, and his hands and feet are rude. He is of degraded lineage. He relies on women. He does not rely on men. Because he is very familiar, he is without respect. Gods, nagas, and yakshas do not speak his praise. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, will not speak his praise. He is brave in harming, and the term of the Sangha

I am the one who possesses all. Shariputra, such a person desires the power of the Sangha. Whatever is assigned to him, he speaks without asking. He seeks robes. He strives to find fault with others who are virtuous. He acts similarly. He holds to non-Dharma and accepts non-Dharma. He delights in assemblies. He causes disputes to flare up. Shariputra, this is also the ninth fault of a bhikkhu who is immoral, for he universally joins in order to be completely reborn in the lower realms. Shariputra, furthermore, a bhikkhu who is immoral is one who takes up disputes. He obtains joy through strife and is attached to robes. He goes to evil destinies and is devoted to the pleasure of sleep. He rejoices when he obtains praise and frequents the houses of friends and the houses of beggars. He is jealous of houses and jealous of places. What is the reason for this? Because he thinks, 'Alas, how wonderful it would be if those bhikkhus did not know these things about me!' He hates morality. He universally delights in corrupt morality and especially speaks of the praise of generosity alone, but not of morality, patience, diligence, meditation, wisdom, and peace. He is not even slightly concerned with the meaning or the words of solitary monastic dwellings, and he conspicuously strives to behave in ways that are not praiseworthy to bhikkhus who know shame. He speaks slightly of things that are not praiseworthy, either in meaning or in words, to those bhikkhus who possess the qualities of training, and in every way he finds fault. He engages in speaking about lineage. He mentions former relatives and the reason why he teaches the Dharma so stingily, and because he is shy, he speaks with a forked tongue, does not abandon his own kind, quickly obtains being suppressed by many people, and is displeasing. He speaks harshly to those who are virtuous, and he does not trust men and women who speak instructions, that...
