No. He said: O Blessed One, although there are householders who kill, they do not always and constantly harm the lives of beings. O Blessed One, which householder who kills does not kill or harm for one umbrella or one night is most wonderful. O Blessed One, which householder who kills harms the lives of beings for one umbrella or one night is not so wonderful. Shariputra, what do you think? Which is more wonderful, a householder who does not take what is not given, or one who takes what is not given? He said: O Blessed One, which householder who does not take what is not given does not take what is not given for one umbrella or one night is most wonderful. O Blessed One, which householder who does not take what is not given takes and has taken what is not given for one umbrella or one night, or two umbrellas, or three, or half a month, or half a month, is not so wonderful. The Buddha said: Shariputra, what do you think? Which is more wonderful, a householder who engages in wrong conduct in regard to desires does not engage in wrong conduct in regard to desires, and one who does not engage in wrong conduct in regard to desires, and likewise does not speak falsely, does not speak divisive words, does not speak harsh words, does not speak idle chatter, is not greedy, and does not harm? Shariputra, what do you think? Which is more wonderful, a householder with wrong views who attends to wrong views, and one who does not attend to wrong views? He said: O Blessed One, which householder who engages in wrong conduct in regard to desires does not engage in wrong conduct in regard to desires for one umbrella or one night is most wonderful. O Blessed One, which householder who engages in wrong conduct in regard to desires engages in wrong conduct in regard to desires for one umbrella or one night is not so wonderful. Just as it is most wonderful not to engage in wrong conduct in regard to desires, so too, O Blessed One, which householder who speaks falsely, speaks divisive words, speaks harsh words, speaks idle chatter, is greedy, and harms, and who has a harmful mind, does not harm for one umbrella or one night is most wonderful.

Venerable One, it is not so surprising that a householder with a harmful mind would do harm with a single umbrella or in a single night. Venerable One, a person with wrong views will not become a person with right views even many times, nor will they remember right views even many times. Venerable One, I say that among these ten paths of unwholesome actions, wrong view is the one with the greatest faults. Venerable One, why is that? Because in this way, a person with wrong views, due to the decline of their views, constantly and continuously becomes a mind that is completely afflicted and a mind that is completely impure. The Venerable One said: Shariputra, you should understand, you should comprehend. Shariputra, if someone kills living beings, harming the lives of hundreds of millions of beings every day; if someone takes what is not given, stealing wealth, grain, gold, silver, and all their own possessions from hundreds of millions of households every day; if someone engages in misconduct in regard to desires, constantly and continuously engaging in misconduct in regard to desires without weariness; if someone speaks falsehoods, constantly and continuously speaking false words day and night, not speaking a single word that conforms to truth or follows truth, constantly making their speech completely impure; if someone speaks divisive words, constantly and continuously delighting in conflict, being satisfied with conflict, speaking words that cause conflict, separating those who are in harmony, making those who are already separated even more separated, further concealing; if someone speaks harsh words, constantly and continuously striving to engage in contentious speech, not speaking a single gentle word; if someone speaks idle chatter, when asked by others, they speak of other things, not speaking the truth, and transmitting words in order to confuse the words of others, speaking hundreds or thousands of words in a moment, let alone day or night, speaking idle chatter; if someone is greedy, constantly and continuously equal and unequal.
