Speaking of giving and receiving, speaking of delivering messengers and letters, speaking of giving leaves, flowers, and fruits, and words related to laughter, play, and association, speaking of what is difficult to tame, difficult to satisfy, and difficult to nurture. With such impure words, they spend their days and nights. Therefore, those completely impure limits of bodily actions, completely impure limits of speech actions, completely impure limits of mental actions, and completely impure livelihoods, lead to falling into evil destinies and evil paths after the destruction and death of the body, falling into sentient being hells. Shariputra, it is said that birds rely on darkness to move. Thus spoke the Buddha. Those foolish beings, upon hearing the Sutras spoken by the Tathagata, which are truly and correctly encouraging, will become distressed. Why is that? Shariputra, because this world is angry with the truth, they will not have faith in those who speak the Dharma. They will especially increase and perfect the places of evil destinies. Shariputra, this is the fifth fault of a bhikkhu who has broken his vows, which is entered into for the purpose of perfecting evil destinies. Shariputra, furthermore, a bhikkhu who has broken his vows is a miserly person, a liar, an obstinate person, and a person of inferior faculties. He is endowed with impure bodily actions, endowed with impure speech actions, endowed with impure mental actions, endowed with impure conduct, and possesses an impure monastery. He is a liar, does not restrain his speech, and his mind is filled with afflictions. Shariputra, for example, there is a crude vessel made of earth, and someone pours vomit into it, then empties it, and fills it again with red sandalwood, but the red sandalwood is also contaminated. Shariputra, what do you think? Does that crude vessel made of earth have the scent of sandalwood, or the smell of vomit, which scent has the greater power?

Translation: World Honored One, that container for vomit, initially just contaminated by the smell of vomit, will become the nature of that smell. It is like the smell of vomit, not the smell of sandalwood. Therefore, it will not be successful to make and process red sandalwood with it. Shariputra, similarly, here some sentient beings, their senses are fully complete and fully pure, and they possess virtuous qualities. They renounce the world out of faith, going from household life to homelessness. But after they renounce the world, they will fall into, be subject to, or approach evil friends. Shariputra, what are so-called evil friends? Shariputra, evil friends are like this: restless, arrogant, unstable, talkative, stubborn, fond of repetition, lazy, lacking diligence, forgetful, not calm in mind, disturbed in mind, not dignified, not mindful, with corrupt wisdom, foolish like sheep, monks with mediocre senses. If they closely associate with, respect, and serve such monks, they will completely lose the fruit of stream-entry. They will completely lose the fruit of once-returner, non-returner, and Arhatship. Even they will completely lose the hope of being born in heaven. They will fully manifest actions that are impoverished by the lack of Dharma. They will live and fully engage with those who are impoverished by the Dharma. They will possess completely impure bodily, verbal, and mental actions. Bhikshus, if they closely associate with, respect, and serve those monks whose lives are completely impure, after their body disintegrates and they die, they will fall into the lower realms. Shariputra, what are the lower realms? Shariputra, the lower realms are like this: hell beings, the animal realm, the realm of hungry ghosts, and the Asuras.

They will also become frivolous, arrogant, untrustworthy, garrulous, stubborn, repetitive in speech, lazy, weak in diligence, unrestrained, without mindfulness, not calm, forgetful, of corrupt wisdom, foolish like sheep, mentally disturbed, and become ordinary beings. They will also be conquered by attachment, conquered by hatred, conquered by ignorance, and also conquered by pride. They will become blind, cross-eyed, hunchbacked, with sunken cheeks, deaf, one ear deaf, especially deaf, deaf due to accidents, foolish, stuttering, like sheep.
