There is no action, and there is no change. Great king, when body, speech, and mind do not act, do not manifest, then there is no action, and there is no change. Great king, therefore all dharmas are the nature of non-manifestation and non-action, and what is non-manifestation and non-action is also not its nature. Question: Manjushri, how does one develop faith in non-manifestation and non-action towards manifested and active things? Answer: Great king, when one does not think of the past as exhausted, does not desire the future as not yet arrived, and does not conceptualize the present, therefore one believes that from the beginning there is no birth, and one does not increase or decrease. Just so, great king, one develops faith in non-manifestation and non-action towards manifested and active things. Question: Manjushri, how do afflictions and the path go together? Answer: Great king, what do you think? Does the sunlight dwell together with darkness? Question: Manjushri, it is not so. Why is that? Because darkness is illuminated by the sunlight. Answer: Great king, then is that darkness a skandha? Does it go in a certain direction? Question: Manjushri, it is not so. Answer: Great king, similarly, when the wisdom of the path arises, afflictions will not arise, and afflictions will not become skandhas, nor will they dwell in a place, nor will they dwell in a direction. Great king, afflictions are equality, therefore the path is equality. The path is equality, therefore afflictions are equality. Afflictions are equality, therefore all dharmas are equality. Great king, those who realize this, afflictions themselves are their path. Why is that? Because by seeking afflictions in this way, afflictions will not arise. Furthermore, seeking afflictions is the path. The king asked: Manjushri, how is it that seeking afflictions, afflictions themselves are the path? Manjushri answered: Great king, when seeking afflictions, the mind does not go to duality, in that way, seeking afflictions, afflictions themselves are the path. Great king, in that way, afflictions themselves are the path. Question: Manjushri

Auspicious, how is the path practiced? He replied: Great King, practicing all dharmas is practicing the path. Asked: Manjushri, if one practices the path in this way, where will one go? He replied: Great King, if one practices the path in this way, one will go nowhere. The king asked: Manjushri, isn't the path going towards Nirvana? Manjushri replied: Great King, does Nirvana have a path for any dharma? Asked: Manjushri, it is not like that. Manjushri replied: Great King, therefore, the practice of the path by the noble ones is not to go by going. Asked: Manjushri, where do the noble ones abide when they practice the path? He replied: Great King, the noble ones practice the path by abiding in the place of no abiding. Asked: Manjushri, aren't the noble ones practicing the path by abiding in morality, wisdom, and samadhi? He replied: Great King, the morality of the noble ones is the characteristic of non-intentional accumulation. Great King, the samadhi of the noble ones is the characteristic of non-discrimination. Great King, the wisdom of the noble ones is the characteristic of non-elaboration. Great King, what do you think? Can one abide in non-intentional accumulation or non-elaboration? Asked: Manjushri, no. Manjushri replied: Great King, in this way also, it should be understood that the noble ones abide in the place of no abiding and practice the path. Asked: Manjushri, how does a son or daughter of good family enter the path? He replied: Great King, when searching, one does not perceive any dharma, whether it is permanent or impermanent, any dharma that is suffering or non-suffering, pleasure or pain, self or no-self, and one does not perceive any dharma of samsara or nirvana. Thus entering, Great King, it is called entering the path. Then, King Ajatashatru asked Manjushri, who had become a youth, as follows: Manjushri, in order to purify my bad remorse, it would be good if you and your retinue would come for a meal tomorrow. Manjushri replied: Great King, whatever is not, that is never there. Because there is nothing, there is also no complete liberation. Whatever is completely liberated
