Once, the Blessed One was dwelling on Vulture Peak Mountain in Rajagriha (present-day Rajgir, Bihar), together with a great Sangha of monks consisting of thirteen hundred and fifty monks, and eighty-four thousand Bodhisattvas who had come from various Buddha-fields, great Bodhisattvas who were manifestly knowing through their supernormal knowledge, who had obtained dharanis, who possessed unobstructed eloquence, who had obtained forbearance of non-arising dharmas, who were learned and skilled in the practice of samadhi and dharani, who taught the Dharma according to the inclinations of the minds of all sentient beings, and also the four Great Kings, Indra the Lord of the Gods, Brahma the Lord of the Sahā world, and other gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, mahoragas, and many hundreds of thousands of great belly-goers.
