Thus, surpassing and penetrating all those seventy-two Buddha-fields as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, from all the world realms endowed with appearance, such rays of light were emitted that all the Bodhisattvas whose bodies were touched by those rays of light attained the Samadhi called "the Lamp of Samadhi like Mount Sumeru." That Buddha-field also became visible from this Buddha-field. This Buddha-field also became visible from that Buddha-field. For example, just as the sun and moon appear from this Jambudvipa, so too did those Bodhisattvas see the Tathagata Shakyamuni. These Bodhisattvas also saw the Bhagavan Tathagata King of Light. For example, just as the sons of the gods dwell on the summit of Mount Sumeru and look down upon Jambudvipa, so too did the Bodhisattvas from this world realm see the Bhagavan Tathagata King of Light and those Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who were adorned with great armor. Then, Manjushri, the youth, with his right hand, from the Buddha-field of the Tathagata King of Light, the world realm endowed with appearance, took the alms bowl from the path in the sky, surrounded and guided by billions of hundreds of thousands of kotis of Bodhisattvas, and raised it upwards. From whichever Buddha-fields the hand was extended, the rays of light in those Buddha-fields

The Blessed One also accepted that alms bowl. Then, those bodhisattvas who, together with the bodhisattva who had transformed into the youthful Manjushri, had come to this world of Saha, bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One. Each of them recited their respective Tathagata's name, saying: 'Blessed One, so-and-so Tathagata, Blessed One, are you not ill? Are you not weary? Are you well risen? Are you at ease? Do you have strength? Do you abide in happiness?' They greeted him in this way. After the Buddha granted permission, they each sat on their respective seats. Then, the Blessed One spoke to the venerable Shariputra: 'Therefore, Shariputra, listen carefully as I explain how the youthful Manjushri benefited me in the past, and how, in order not to be ungrateful for his kindness, he now became an opponent in debate. Shariputra, in the past, countless hundreds of thousands of billions of kalpas ago, even further beyond that, at that time, a Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, named Invincible Banner, was born in a world called the Land of No Affliction. Shariputra, that Tathagata's assembly of Shravakas numbered eighty-four thousand, and his assembly of Bodhisattvas numbered twenty thousand. That Tathagata taught the Dharma based on the three vehicles. That Tathagata was born to teach the three vehicles, the six perfections, and skillful means. Shariputra, at that time, there was a Bhikshu Dharma speaker named King of Wisdom. In the morning, he put on his lower garment, donned his Dharma robes, and carried his alms bowl to go for alms to a place called the Great King's Palace. From there, he returned carrying many foods with a hundred flavors. Also at that time, a merchant's son named Immaculate Arm was sitting on his mother's lap. That child saw the Bhikshu coming from afar. Having seen him, he got down from his mother's lap and ran to where the Bhikshu was and begged for food. That Bhikshu gave him a piece of dough, and that food...

Then, he was fascinated and followed that monk. Gradually, he went to where the Tathagata Invincible Banner was, went to the Tathagata, bowed to the Buddha's feet with his head, and sat before the Buddha. Then, the monk Yeshe Gyalpo gave the food he had alms-begged to the child, saying, "Child, please offer this food to the Tathagata." Then, the child took the food and filled the Bhagavan's bowl, but the food was not completely exhausted. Shariputra, just like this, from that single portion of food, that child offered to eighty-four thousand Shravakas, twelve thousand Bodhisattvas, and the Bhagavan Tathagata Invincible Banner, even though he offered and gave alms, the food was not completely exhausted. Then, that child felt happy, joyful, very happy, and generated joy and happiness, and sat before the Bhagavan, and spoke these verses: Even if the Bhikshu Sangha is offered to, the bowl is never exhausted, the place of giving, the field of merit, I will surely worship. Even if the Protector of the World is offered to, the fruitful thing is not exhausted, if offered to the Buddha, giving will not be exhausted, without a doubt. Just as the fruitful thing is not exhausted, and will increase again and again, whoever is respectful to the Buddhas, their virtue will increase in the same way. Shariputra, just like this, that child, with just one portion of food, offered to the Tathagata and the Bhikshu Sangha for seven days, and by the power of the Buddha and the mind of faith in that child's heart, the food was not completely exhausted. Then, the monk Yeshe Gyalpo made that child take refuge in the Buddha, take refuge in the Dharma, and take refuge in the Sangha. He also gave him precepts. He also made him confess his sins. He also made him rejoice in what should be rejoiced in. He also made him pray for what should be prayed for, and afterwards made him generate the mind of unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. Shariputra, just like this, that child's parents were looking for that child.
